Ah, so you were one of the two guys and a girl who were there right after opening, then? One was wearing a Tampa Bay Bucs shirt I believe, and another a Weddington High School shirt. I figured it might be someone from the boards since you guys, Coastermom, and myself were the only ones in the park who ran straight to the flyers at opening, lol.

Carrowinds44, do you go to Weddington? I didn't know that you lived in Weddington. I am one of your enemies, I guess, since I go to Parkwood. I wish that I could have gone today to the park. We should meet up some day. If you run track, like everyone seems to do at Weddington, then I know we will since I am a one of P-dubs famous hurdlers!lol!

Thanks. I would've liked to have jumped back in line for another spin,
but we ran into my son's best friend and his mom and he wanted to hang
out with them.

I think there were a lot of day guests there today. When
we returned later to the flyers, hardly any one snapped.
It was a very busy day with long waits to many of the rides.
People were spending money, though, and that's what we like to see.

I can't wait for the days when I can go to the park ALONE!!!

Now I don't feel too bad about not going today, since it sounded like it was pretty busy. I got up a tad late after watching the NCAA's late last night and then when I did get up, I couldn't get motivated to head outside as it was a bit chillier than I expected.

I figured it might get crowded later on so it'd be pointless to go if I wasn't there right at opening. Sounds like I was right about it getting busy - like last year's Good Friday. I figured it would with the weather forecast for the rest of the weekend not looking too good. I guess I get too spoiled with ERT and those really dead Sunday mornings and hate to wait in any kind of line these days :P

Hopefully all the GP went today and will shy away tommorrow morning, for awhile at least. If I can drag myself outta bed I'll probably be there.

Yep that was me and yes I go to Weddington, but I'm football not track.

Yea it was sort of crowded yesterday, which was no fun. I was kinda hoping that it would be less crowded maybe if people didn't know it was open on Friday but I was wrong there.

BTW, how did that signature come about Jonathan? (the cables one)

Hey... I'm from Weddington too!

Just got back from another WONDERFUL day of flyer action... screw everything else in the park. Ok... you know the guy who was acting crazy opening day yelling "GET HIGHER!" and "THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!" over and over again? Yea... well tonight from 7:30 till 8 he just let the ride run for 30 minutes straight (he had the manager key) since noone else was in line. My friends and I (the only 3 on the ride) rode for 30 MINUTES STRAIGHT! the snappage was absolutely rediculous! I was getting amazing combos after a while just one after the other. Talk about a great way to finish the night out!

EDIT: Sorry it's a little hard to read for some reason, nowhere to add a paragraph

EDIT 2: The GP was actually kind of entertaining today. Lots of the small kids who were accidentally snapping and looking terrified, and plenty of older people who knew what to do as well. Great fun for all at the Phantom Flyers!

EDIT 3: /points finger at Carowinds44 and laughs at him for not being on the amazing 30 minute continuous flyer-a-thon. FINAL EDIT I PROMISE!

Wow. I feel really really stupid now. I was going to head over to the park from about 6 PM until closing to ride the flyers, but I was lazy and decided it would probably be too crowded anyway. Sounds like I missed out on some fun. Ah well, maybe I'll drop by tomorrow before I head back to Raleigh.

I can't believe it was empty on a Saturday night. That's cool.

I went out after work on Friday and spent about 2.5 hours in the park. I got two rides on the flyers.

Most of the GP didn't have a clue how to snap, I think I educated a few ;) lol

Yea it was weird that it was empty, but that is the awesome benefit of having it tucked away in the kiddy section. Once all the kiddies go home it's time for the big dogs to come out and play :D .

From what I can tell so far, it seems like they're going to keep the entire Nick Central area open until park close. In years past I think Animation Station would've closed at 7 on these Saturdays the park has been open until 8. The "old" Nick Central stayed open as long as the park of course, being that it was a vital pathway through the park. Now that both areas are all Nick Central, I'd guess they'll keep everything open and not close off part of the area, as that would be a bit confusing. I could see them closing off some of the smaller rides, but I'd think the Flyers and Scooby, er, Fairly Odd Coaster would remain open. Time will tell though.

If this is the case, this should be GREAT for us. Often times when I've been at the park until closing, I made a point to head to AS before it closes to get some evening / night rides on Scooby. It rides great then, AND the area is usually very dead. If this area indeed remains open until 10pm during the summer, I'd imagine the last several hours the area should be pretty dead as the kids (or the parents) start tiring out and head home. That should mean LOTS of rides for us.

LOL

Yea that's very upsetting that I missed out coatercrazy! I would have given anything to have been there. ( That's exactly what we were talking about. )

While I was there Friday my friend and I tried to ride in one car(185+185lbs ) and it was a massive failure! We were to heavy to get stopped at the bottom and we just blasted through!

If we keep all these tips up we will eventually have figured out the perfect ride conditions.

Dude, opening day was a blast with you guys. Glad to hear you've been able to get in some more flying!

Don't wear them out now, I have to get a few more snaps in myself. :D

The Kid!

Sorry, I finally got around to uploading this.

For those that were there opening day and caught the spectacular show by "the kid" on the flyers, this will bring back memories.

http://uploadhut.com/view.php/90313.mpg

Sorry for my goofyness being heard on the video. "Wow! Cool!" But it really was amazing to watch that kid fly. B)

BTW I think that the kid is Tina's son (Tina ACE member).

P.P.S. The file is very large (17Megs)
