Anyone has a visual of this? I'm trying to place it but I can't.

Unless Carowinds bought the area in yellow without anyone noticing, I can't see it being related to the park. However, the area in blue is on park property. If that has anything to do with the 2019 Project, it greatly increases the scale.

^^

I live in Raleigh so I don't make it to the park as often as I'd like, but even when I do I never venture anywhere near that part of it. I was going off of Google maps, though it hasn't been updated since mid-construction of the new water rides. But I also seem to remember a park map that had it included which, if true, may be a hint. Does anyone else remember this?

On Google maps, under “Satellite”, click the “3D On” button and it will turn the 3D off. When you do that, it should show the park from 2017.

The service road is still there outlining where TR's turnaround was in this most updated Google Maps image sometime during summer 2017 (hint: select 3d on in the menu and you'll see the update). I would assume they have no need to alter it until they decide to put something there.

What is happening on the park property clearing? I must have missed it on my way out of Carowinds.

The property across the street is going to be a warehouse. It's part of the lakemont business park. No relation to Carowinds other than proximity.

As for the work at carowinds, there are two stormwater permits on the SC side.

One is for 2018 flyers relocation and listed as a 1 acre job.

The other is for 2019 project alpha which is listed as a 5 acre job.

This picture shows the two areas covered by the stormwater permits.

I don't see how the part next to the road could be related to anything accessible to guests unless the literally did a coaster over the parking lot. My thinking is they are probably going to build a warehouse near the road to free up space in the park.

The area I measured on Daftlogic was 4.65 acres, so if the project is listed as 5, it would make sense that they'd be moving that warehouse.

Anyways Christopher, this is the area in question (photo by DirkDiggler1992):

So the estimated area for 2019 Project Alpha now looks like this:

At this point I'm not convinced it isn't two coasters

Maybe they're going to shift that portion of the parking lot over as far as possible to allow "Project Alpha" to extend into the current water park parking lot a bit? Or just moving the warehouse behind PVZ to the other side of the parking lot?

Also, part of me thinks it would be cool if the new coaster turns out to be a ground-up RMC hybrid. Then they could rip out Hurler and build a massive GCI out and back woodie in that area, surrounded by trees. Maybe even extend the park in that direction for future attractions down the line. Never gonna happen though. lol

Why do you think the new 2019 project will cover the land Dark Harvest and the warehouse sits on? Just curious! I hope you're right!!!

The size of the clearing with the warehouse within the site is about 5 acres, which is listed as the size of 2019 Project Alpha’s Stormwater permit. They could always be referring to moving Dodg’ems but considering there’s clearing going on across the parking lot, it makes sense that they’d be moving the warehouse for the new coaster.

As to what will happen to Dark Harvest, I don’t know. They could build the coaster under it but part of me thinks Carowinds wouldn’t want their guests walking through an active construction site. Then again, Silver Scream did have a queue through Fury’s site in 2014, so I guess anything is possible.
