Why take up usable space inside the park when you don’t need to? The land on the other end of the parking lot will probably never get used for the park so why not?

The size of the clearing with the warehouse within the site is about 5 acres, which is listed as the size of 2019 Project Alpha’s Stormwater permit. They could always be referring to moving Dodg’ems but considering there’s clearing going on across the parking lot, it makes sense that they’d be moving the warehouse for the new coaster.

As to what will happen to Dark Harvest, I don’t know. They could build the coaster under it but part of me thinks Carowinds wouldn’t want their guests walking through an active construction site. Then again, Silver Scream did have a queue through Fury’s site in 2014, so I guess anything is possible.

They can always move dark harvest. It would just take a lot of work since they kind of leave everything how it is each year

I imagine they would move it next to the trail to camp wilderness where Fury is because they have kept some things there “in storage” like we saw with the county fair and many other things including SCarowinds.

If it is moved, that would more logical than on the other side of the parking lot.

Ok, inside the park was a poor choice of words but I was limited on time. What I meant was like under Fury or the Hurler infield which is getting junky again.

I can play devil's advocate and say that they wouldn't want a warehouse all the way across a parking lot for them to have to go and retrieve something that's stored there. I think they would rather be able to retrieve it from INSIDE the park rather than go out there. At least I wouldn't. Also, if it was inside the park proper, it would have better security by being behind the park fence as well.

Someone has their thinking cap on!

Some of you might as well give Hurler a break. It's actually running well and it's still popular. The fact that it has made the top 5 popular ridership in the park for 2017 season should tell you something. Anything can happen, but it's not getting the RMC treatment. As for 2019, I'm getting super excited. Not just for the coaster, but this side of the park will really be alive once again.

To be honest, I don't think Dodgems will be relocated. It's not really in the way of what appears to be construction. Also, the light show in the bumper car building is wonderful. Would love to see a new fleet of cars soon.

Edwardo's usually correct about what's happening in the park, so it's certainly possible it could move. I could be wrong about that extra .5 acre for Project Alpha, it could include the Dodg'ems pad instead of the warehouse.

Yes it's possible. I guess we will find out in the coming weeks. I'm just curious to know where the entrance would be. Or which side. It's all interesting.

Hi all, I've been reading the forums for awhile but decided to join in on the conversation!

So it seems like most think this is going to be a GCI. However, there was a quote from Richard Zimmerman awhile back about bringing record breaking attractions to Carowinds and rumblings of making the park the "Cedar Point of the South". We've already seen this with Intimidator and Fury, so I wonder if a GCI really fits with the overall strategy of the park (i.e. record breaking or exciting enough to bring in crowds from across the region).

I have no clue what it is, but if I had to guess I'd say a dive coaster (that breaks some sort of record) with a splash down. Since we've lost so many water rides, having a splash zone like Griffon, for example, could make sense.

This one may be more far-fetched, but a dueling ground-up RMC would be amazing, and a sort of salute to the old Thunder Road.
