General Carowinds discussion

As the day went by yesterday, the Fury team got better at sending the trains out without stacking that much. I got to ride once, and it was at night. We got in line at 6pm and waited. Devin Olsen was in front of me the whole time and of course we spoke the whole time in line. The line never moved and we found out why, there were several "delays". I"m assuming due to the weather because it was cold. We finally made it to the station by 8:15pm so the park was already closed. I'd say that about 80 or more people left the queue while we were waiting. My, Devin, and my friends were on the first of the last 4 trains to run last night. Devin rode in car 4, we rode in car 7. It was very great at night and it wasn't even fully dark yet. You'd think that the lights would make it not great, but you'd be surprised how dark it is.
We had a group photo (and I purchased our ride photo)
We left the park soon after.
I made it home by 12:15 am

It wasn't a weather delay, there were some other issues. At one point a train dispatched and was brought back to the station we were all about 3 switchbacks in front of you, near the stairs before we finally got out of line and went to intimidator.

Not sure if any of you are interested in this stuff, but I just made a visual representation of 325's lift with coasterdynamix! (The supports aren't accurate, but I didn't have enough peices. Also I would've have done a real working model with a full layout but they don't sell them anymore :( )

After years of anticipation I finally got to ride it today. We got there at 9:30 in the morning and rushed right to Fury. We had to wait 3 hours to get on (because of the weather delay) BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! It was the best roller coaster I've ever been on, and I've been on mellenium force and all the other gigas, except for steel dragon. It was a blast, and there wasn't too much G-force like on 305. The airtime was plentiful and the drop beneath the bridge was my favorite part. If you haven't been on this beast, then go to carowinds and add a new roller coaster to your top 5 favorite list, hopefully at the number 1 spot.

They are getting better with the loading and unloading using the transfer track as a holding spot while they bring in another and unload/load. Liking what I'm seeing hopefully it just keeps getting better and faster

Jonathan wrote:On another note, I've always wondered how much these "Fast Pass" type systems cost in terms of time to the regular peasants who don't shell out the big bucks. Since the Fast Pass line was closed for the season pass night Friday, I had a good control to find out. On Friday night with no Fast Pass operating it was 50 minutes from the entrance to the permanent queue. On Saturday it was 70 minutes with the Fast Pass line open. So, a 40% increase for the peasants.

Too cool that you thought to do this! Good information. I would never have guess it was that much. :eh:

Did we (the forum) ever figure out what those 'saucer' looking things are at the edge of the station?

I just rode it and I have found my new favorite Coaster...The speed was amazing I did not expect for it to be that fast. Also the drop felt a lot bigger than intimidators, I don't know why though sense I would have thought it would feel the same I can't wait to be able to come on the weekday and be able to do walk ons hopefully.

On Intimidator they have gates to prevent people from going past a certain point when loading and falling off. The gates are closed when the train is dispatched so no one can touch them. I would assume those saucers are for the same purpose as the gates on MiniTimi without any electricity to operate. If you noticed there was two saucers and they were situated above and below where people are physically able to reach (or most people).
