Dumb question:

Is it possible to convert Vortex to a floorless coaster simply by replacing the trains, instead of building a new coaster?

And yes - I agree with the Huss Giant flat ride. Those are so cool. How much do they cost?

It would consist more of rebuilding the station more so than the coaster. They would also likely need to tweak the trains to have the heart line in the same spot as the stand up trains. Floorless trains are generally higher than sitdowns, but not sure if they are at the same level as a stand up. I say just build a brand new multi looping floorless or sitdown elsewhere in the park. A converted Vortex would be pretty boring with it's short layout. It's also probably more costly than what they would be willing to do.

I think a converted vortex is better than a current vortex!

I also wonder if this section...

Can be converted into an inline roll consisting of 270 degree rotation (45+ entering it, 270+ thru it and -45 exiting). Basically, entering on a right hand turn, exiting on a left hand turn!

I too think a converted vortex would be better than the current vortex. Yes, another coaster would be better. I wish they could somehow just make the current vortex LONGER somehow and add more height or something.

When it first came out, it was new exciting, etc.....I like it OK........but over the years I have grown to just hate stand up coasters, and when the ride is over, I don't think people seemed very thrilled at all by it, mainly because it's just too freaking short. I remember the last time I rode it a few years ago, when the ride was over, someone screamed, "I want my money back!"

or perhaps make it longer, as well as convert it into a sit down, or a floorless coaster. That would be great. And a different feeling too; not too rough.

Floorless or Sit Down Vortex? Nah. Floorless coasters really aren't that exciting and I don't see the appeal in them. Unless you're in the front row, there's no real thrill to it. As far as sit down coasters, I'd rather see the Vortex gone (oh the horror!) and replaced by something more exciting. I think a ride (Impluse) like what Knoebels is getting would be great in that area. If it'd fit, that's a different story. I can't remember the last time I rode Vortex. I use to give it an obligatory ride each year. I don't even do that anymore. (The same goes for Cobra and Nighthawk.)

To me, the coaster collection at the park needs to be refreshed. That's my wish list.

Dont parks strive to have each class of coaster? We have an invert, hyper, woodies, flying, boomerang, and now a giga. So all we really just need is a launch, and maybe an indoor? For God sake I would just love to see a different type track in Carowinds like Intamin or Mack smh. The park is a B&M park. I'd even be happy with a ZacSpin perched in a corner somewhere.

We really have it all. Even a kid's invert. We don't have a suspended coaster, though. I'm sure I'm missing something else.

Nope...they strive to have what's best for them and their market. While I would hate to see it go I would definetly embrace the idea of it for something like...

Maybe with a longer train a la the smiler...

Yea - Vortex has had it's run. It's just not fun. Then again, that's just my opinion. There may be many many others who like it. When I moved to Lexington in 1996, there was a stand up at kings island (trying to remember what it was called), I think it was from Togo...Kings Island got rid of that! Not sure how long it was there. It was just OK (like Vortex) and just as short.

I've never been on a wing coaster, but I have to see, Watching POV's of Gatekeeper and hearing the screams, a wing coaster looks really cool and fun to me... I also like the looks of Maverick. I've ridden dragster and liked it. I think it's really cool how they are using superman/KDK as 2 rides (super drop rides). I would have never thought of doing that. But speaking of strata coasters, you sure don't see them popping up all over the place since they started being built..........Then again, there are only 4 giga's in the world too, so it's not like you see them popping up a lot either.
