What if... Carowinds built a steel version of Thunder Road? It could have the same profile, maybe even be a racing coaster, and should have a lot less maintenance problems. I know the cost would be extraordinary but I can dream, right? The steel construction, such as that of B&M, could accomodate all sorts of rides and attractions to pass underneath it. The ride experience would essentially be that of a smooth Thunder Road.
I know, a pipe dream. The day I first read about Thunder Road's removal I pondered, what if Carowinds was closing part of the water park to expand Thunder Road?

But there is no question of the popularity to the general public of the water park, so I understand the need for its expansion.
