General Carowinds discussion

Which question? I could always ask about it.

EDIT: I have suggested that the current state line be removed and yellow brick pavers placed instead. That way you never have to repaint. Because according to maintenance, repainting things over and over again is a nightmare... and I can fully understand why too.

EDIT #2: just like how maintaining asphalt is a maintenance nightmare too.

...and Winterfest 05 was never declared to be a failure. I was one of the ones who enjoyed it on '05 and prepurchased my tickets for '06. It was cancelled because of the acquisition from Dick Kinzel's Cedar Fair who could care less about things like that.

Yep, so no Country Fair in the woods for me. Clearly what is going on in the woods is either just an infrastructure change or is leading up to future plans for Carowinds. I do think they picked a great spot in the park that is sorely lacking.

I'm wondering what we got that was a 'Carolina Tradition'? We already had a county fair and already knew about the flats, so that can't be it. We already knew about Winterfest and that's not really a Carolina tradition anyway. Paging Amos. What the heck were you talking about?

The announcement of county fair moving is interesting. Most of the markings Ive seen were at the old county fair location, not by cobra. Speaking of the announcement, not sure how it came across on facebook but there was literally no one at Harmony hall watching it. I cant help but feel a little disappointed by the "FourMore" not being anything really. Honestly, were getting 1 less ride than we originally thought. I love the concept of the new county fair, the string lights, etc. Its going to be a great area. Carolina Cobra needed paint, and everyone was growing tired of naming coasters Carolina " " but Flying Cobras, not sure how that name fits better with county fair. Glad to see Winterfest return as there is literally nothing to do around here that time of year.

Why would the park go through the trouble of repainting two slides and purchasing signage for it if they were just going to remove it after a year. If they knew something would soon be in it's place then they would have removed it before this season. For example, the mini golf.

FSS was a casualty of Cedar Fair buying the parks and needing a home for Headspin. The decision to paint was very likely made under paramount when CF was in the midst of coming up with a long term plan and the decision to pull the plug on Geauga hadn't been made yet.

Not going in on the bet? $50 and bragging rights.

Ok here's my thoughts. I am loving the new area bringing life to that side of the park. I love that they're continuing to bring back former names from yesteryears like Do-Si-Do. I kind of wish the wave swinger was named Whirling Dervish again but Zephr will do. I to don't believe the slides are moving anywhere. I also think Flying Cobras Electro Spin are just the dumbest names I've heard lol. I'm happy to hear the Wings restaurant will get a face lift and some improvements. I do hope they stick as close to the concept as possible as far as the aesthetics goes, the string lights, welcome sign and I'm pretty sure all the rides will have a fancy light package.

My question is once all of this this have manifested, are they moving the Vampires back to the arbor tunnel during Scarowinds??

I do think we will get the breakdance for 2018 maybe? As we know other park have not announced it? Guess we'll have to wait on KD on the 20th.... is MA doing an announcement this year? I see we didn't get the conversion on vortex, which was pretty much expected. Looks like CGA finally will be so maybe next year for us? I did believe we were getting Pacific Spin but I guess not.

I'm very happy to see Winterfest return. I think it will do well after all as the years go on it seems winter doesn't hit until January. Last year it was like 75 degrees up until the first week of January.

I too like Cobra's current colors. It's not the generic yellow, blue, red, teal, or orange the other coaster are sporting at the moment. It's the most unique out of the 13 coasters.

Def not Cedar Point. They're getting the 6 slide complex clone and splash pad.

They did say "bringing new life into an old Carolina tradition" here's your new life.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here... this is the same park that removed a wooden coaster after an extensive retracking.....
