 I guess I thought each parks version of the light show was different? I have never seen it other than little clips here and there... Just cant wait to see how it looks and turns out in our park... I think people will enjoy the extra park hours than this, a lot of people were probaly not to happy with this addition. Oh well, we will see how it is next year!

Two other parks have it. I just went and saw CP's for the first time this past week, and it was actually pretty well done. I haven't seen KI's in person, but the videos/pictures I've seen look terrific. You aren't a very positive person, are you?

You read 2 post from me and question if im a positive person...do me a favor, click my name, search for all my post...then read them. And its not 2 other parks, its 3 other parks that have it. One park has it under a different name. I just dont see how this, operating a little over a month, can be hyped up as the park did. Like when the park had the nick parade, it wasnt labled as a stand alone attraction. It was and seasonal attraction. I just think if the park could have canned this for a flat or 2. Its soley my opinion and its not like im stating it as a fact, like intimidator is a worlds top 10 coaster...now thats not a fact but merely one persons opinion.

Jarvis "if we dont agree im the not-so-positive person  ?" Morant.

I kind of agree with you Jarvis. How many years will this light show last? Is it just seasonal? I myself would have rather had one or two extremely minor flats (Chance Wipeout, Zamperla Hawk, Huss Troika, Tea Cups, Round Up, Tilt-A-Whirl, Non inverting swinging ship, etc) than this light show that will be seen a few months out of next year and go away forever. Not everything has to be a multi million dollar Screaming Swing or Giant Frisbee IMO.

But the problem with installing just one or two minor flats, is that it isn't marketable.

"Come ride our new Tilt-A-Whirl! Every other park and carnival in the country has one, and ours isn't different at all!"

I will give this Snoopy thing a fair shot, you never know Jarvis maybe they will throw us a bone like they did with the Yo-Yo in 2008, after announcing the new wave pool months earlier.

Now that would be welcomed. Even with the wave pool I still thought that was a good addition. But this will last one month and a week and only for a few hours of the day, 3 hours max. I wont be suprise if the season pass sales go flat or drop. The target audience this is suppose to for usually falls asleep by 7-8pm and throw in a full day at the park they would be sleep way before then lol...

Jarvis "good addition for other parks just not the park I wanna go to (is that selfish? lol)" Morant

You do have a point.... My kids go to sleep, actually on the way home most of the time after a 10am-2pm day at the park. I guess I will have to take them late in the day if they want to see this. At least its something different for the park... Oh well..

I would assume that the $1mill price tag covers cost of product plus installation. If they purchased a flat ride or 2 and then had to install them, it could easily end up costing over a million, and that may have been all they were budgeted for outside of other capital used for other park projects for the year.

The Starlight Spectacular has seemed to work well and gotten good reviews at other parks, and at least they're doing *something* in an off year. Remember, they're also spending capital on pavers, the Thunder Road project, and other things around the park too. And remember, they're spending money keeping the park open later, which means they're paying more people, have more overhead, etc., and still have to work within a budget.

Following a major coaster addition, I didn't expect much, and we aren't getting much. Come 2012, though, I figure we'll get something decent, hopefully a nice thrill flat or even a WindSeeker.

They're gonna have to do something. Dollywood is gonna kill it in 2012. I figure 2013 will be the next new coaster time for Carowinds. It's weird how things are playing out at the "Big 3" in the Southeast.

SFoG - 2011
Dollywood - 2012
Carowinds - 2013?

Maybe this cycle will repeat itself into infinity. :)

Yeah, I figure that the park is going to get some major love after next year. I mean, company wide, for 2011, they have 4 new 'major' rides going in, 3 parks get the Planet Snoopy treatment, and Carowinds (and maybe KD?) will be getting the 'off year' special that has been going around the chain the last couple years.

I dont' know if Carowinds will get a coaster in 2013, but I would't count it out. I also wouldn't count out some major flat rides or a new flume (a la Shoot the Rapids, but mayhaps they'll go with someone other than Intamin this time). Still, The people at the park on the Construction tour and at CoasterStock are beyond excited (more than most PR people are), so I really think Carowinds is going to come out swinging in the next few years.

Considering that Carowinds and KD are in Cedar Fair's most underserved markets, you can bet on great things... at BOTH parks.

I wouldn't be suprised if freestyle keeps going the way it has (that's nowhere), CF should gobble up time machine and a few other rides. Not saying we would got the rides, just a thought if we were to it wouldn't be that expensive to transport only 3hrs away.
