General Carowinds discussion

^I love your new profile pic!!!

I don't listen to much pop music in my normal life, so I guess I don't mind what they play around Carowinds. I will say that in Boomerang Bay I get tired of the same 5 songs that they seem to have on rotation. I know y'all don't go to Boomerang Bay, so you don't care, but when you have a 7 year old, you've gotta spend some time there!

We should go to karaoke sometime. I'd totally serenade you with Love Shack. You'd love it. I promise.

ETA…Better yet…I'd make you sing it as a duet with me!

There are some songs that fit Carowinds very well that should be played more often (if they even are at all).

'Thunder Road' by Robert Mitchum -from the movie that inspired the Thunder Road roller coaster:

(would be a great addition to the Thunder Road queue for the upcoming anniversary.)

There's also 'White Lightning' by George Jones -another moonshine song that partially inspired White Lightnin':

'Danger Zone' by Kenny Loggins -famously from the Paramount picture Top Gun:

(I think they play it near Afterburn sometimes, but not often enough if you ask me...)

and of course, the Carowinds anthem that should be played a lot more often all over the park:

I'm sure there are more, but these just popped out at me as being fairly obvious.

BTW: I actually don't like country all that much, but this is the South... and these are songs I genuinely think of when thinking about music and Carowinds.

I don't recall a DJ booth in Millennium Force's line when I went there this past year, and I know they removed one from Magnum's queue (the booth remained, emptied of all electronic components). Behemoth had a DJ in the queue it's first season, but they took it out. Most likely they thought they would need it for the massive lines, but when it opened, the line moved so fast by the time a requested song was played you were already off the ride! Overall, I think Cedar Fair dropped the DJs to focus on Fun TV. No point in having music videos playing with a DJ mixing overtop. Between this and Fury's amazing capacity, I really don't see a DJ booth in the plans.

Sorry, I couldn't resist posting yet another (crappy quality) video of Love Shack that my daughter's competition dance team danced to six years ago. My how they've grown up since then. I'd upload a better quality video but that doesn't make the song sound any better.

Anyway, I heard it over, and over, and over.... so much so that I almost bought an old Chrysler.

CP may have removed the DJ booth then. I haven't been there in 2 years. I just remember thinking it was a good idea when I was up there last. I knew there were DJ booths at other rides but couldn't remember which ones besides MF. Fun TV is ok but they need more content. A friend and I had everything memorized the last time we were at Carowinds.

This an outside-the-box wishlist idea, but here goes nothing:

In the Carowinds opening day retro-footage video, they show a marching band and cheerleaders. I think, since Carowinds is getting a roaming band for 2015, that adding a separate roaming Cheerleader group would be an interesting way to bring more entertainment to the park (even thought the cheerleaders in the video were probably just there on opening day). It's an interesting concept to me, and it honestly seems like a perfect fit for the amusement park industry. They wouldn't have to dress skimpy or anything, either. Just having guests experience the lively energy and up-beat enthusiasm that they could bring around the park could add to an already very memorable day. Roaming entertainment as opposed to stationary entertainment in general is a great idea and I hope they continue to explore it.
