Paramount’s Carowinds Nick-or-Treat Returns
With Bigger and Better Family-Friendly Halloween Fun
Kids’ Halloween event held every Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-30
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept.19, 2005) – Little ghosts and goblins will soon be shouting “Nick-or-Treat†when families visit Paramount’s Carowinds second annual, daytime Halloween extravaganza. The celebration of fall festivities, especially for young guests and their families, returns with even bigger and better attractions sure to make all the little “boils and ghouls†scream with excitement.
Nick-or-Treat takes place in Nickelodeon™ Central, the largest Nickelodeon® theme park area in the world, every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. between Oct. 8 – 30, and is free with park admission.
Families can cheer on their costumed kids during a Nickelodeon-style trick-or-treating bonanza, presented each day from 2 to 4 p.m. Whether dressed as high-flying ninjas, fashionable ballerinas or creepy clowns, geared-up guests 12 and younger can meet their favorite Nickelodeon celebrities and collect a special bag of Halloween treats!
Additional Nick-or-Treat activities include:
NEW! Hop aboard Funhouse Express, a hair-raising attraction that will send chills down guests’ spines as Jimmy the clown takes them on a wild ride through a spooky and crazy world full of clown chaos! This whimsical simulation film is located in the Action F/X Theatre and is sure to captivate children of all ages.
Perilous Pumpkin Path Maze – Halloween guests will weave their way through a twisting path of straw bales and cornstalks, all while dodging a series of dead ends as they attempt to weave their way toward the exit. The path is lined with a gaggle of friendly ghosts “dead-set†on helping the little ones negotiate the path.
Hidden among an array of pumpkins large and small, kids can enter the gorge of gourds at the Pumpkin Patch. This expanded area lets Nick-or-Treaters pick a mumkin’ (mini-pumpkin) to decorate and take home as a spooktacular keepsake.
Nick-or-Treat is not complete without getting into some sort of sticky mess; after all, this is Nickelodeon! In the Goblin Groan Foam Zone, kids will not have to fret about getting scared because there is only clean fun to be had in this goblin-gobbledygook of suds.
“Peter the Great†Pumpkin – The keeper of the pumpkin patch chats with his guests and livens up the fall season with his quick wit and Halloween humor.
Meet the Nicktoons™ Live – Costumed kids can join in the merry march to kick off an exciting holiday version of this park favorite. The Nicktoons™ and their friends sing, dance and entertain in a great finale for the day’s festivities.
“Nick-Or-Treat is devoted to providing a safe and fun Halloween event for parents and their children to enjoy together,†said Bob White, general manger of the 105-acre theme park. “Nickelodeon Central was recently named one of the best kids’ areas in the world, so it’s appropriate that we give our guests an even bigger kids’ Halloween event that lets them be the star of our family-friendly day of activities.â€
NOTE: Costumes with loose articles, such as capes or dangling accessories that could become tangled in rides or attractions will not be allowed. Also, masks or costume pieces that could obstruct the child’s vision will not be allowed. Guests will be asked to modify their costumes to comply with specifications to experience park rides and attractions safely.
Nick-Or-Treat will take place during regular park operation, between 1 and 5 p.m., on Oct. 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30. Nick-or-Treat is free with park admission.
The park is open weekends through Nov. 6. The park is closed to the public on Sept. 24 – 25 and Oct. 1 – 2.
Scarowinds, the park’s annual haunted Halloween event for teens and adults, returns this year beginning Friday, Sept. 30, and continuing every Friday and Saturday night in October, plus Sunday, Oct. 30 and Halloween night, Monday, Oct. 31. Operating hours are 7 p.m. – Midnight. Scarowinds is not recommended for young children or those who do not like being scared.
