General Carowinds discussion

Thought I would point out that Carowinds.com has some nice old images of the park during construction and in the early years:

I don't think the images have been on there long, I've never noticed them before. It's cool that the park has a little tribute to the past within the official website. B)

Note how green and beautiful the park is in this photo...if only they could make it that way again

Thanks for the link Duke. I haven't seen some of those photos before. I was told a good while back that they didn't retain anything from the parks early years and offered to donate copies of a few old photos. Apparently, they have been slowly re-collecting old photos from various sources. I'm happy to see them share those online.

I especially like the Carolina Cyclone aerial <a href='http://multimedia.carowinds.com/images/news/Cyclone_mc4.jpg' target='_blank'>construction</a> shot.
NICE!

Interesting. I thought the Vortex loading area was the old Monorail loading area, but in the picture you can clearly see the Vortex and the Monorail. I really hate they got rid of the monorail. I really wish they had built that resort they talked about.

they have been there awhile, I believe since at least Opening Day or before... but they are very cool pictures.

It's amazing how much the park has changed over the years, in very awesome, and very sad ways. Its unfortunate that Paramount has removed very creative and historical themes, but the benefits of the investment and thrill rides we receive sure are just compensation.

and now for that hyper...... lol did i bring this up again?? we need to get through 2006 first.
