Paramount’s Carowinds Introduces Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort

Upscale campground reopens and features new cabins as well as tent, camper and RV sites

Charlotte, N.C. (March 15, 2006) –Campers can experience all of the thrills of the great outdoors next to one of the most thrilling theme parks in the southeast this year at Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort at Carowinds, opening March 25.

The multimillion-dollar renovation of the 25-acre campground at Paramount’s Carowinds features nearly 200 campsites, 15 rental cabins, enhanced facilities and an abundance of recreational activities for the entire family. Located mere minutes from a variety of shopping and dining experiences, only 10 miles from uptown Charlotte and Lake Wylie and within sight of Paramount’s Carowinds, Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort provides a splendid natural setting, right around the corner from all of the amenities of the modern world.

“We’ve created a camping experience unlike any other in the region,” said Bob White, general manager of Paramount’s Carowinds. “Guests have a world-class theme park, a variety of recreation and a major metropolitan area right at their fingertips. Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort at Carowinds is more than just a campground, offering variety you won’t find at other camping facilities.”

Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort’s redwood cabins accommodate up to six guests and offer many of the comforts of home, all while surrounded by a lush, wooded landscape. The spacious cabin interiors include showers and restrooms, air conditioning, an electric stove top, kitchen table and chairs and a mid-size refrigerator, in addition to daily cleaning and linen service. And after a long day of adventure in the theme park, guests can kick back and relax on their private porch swing.

Each of the more than 50 tent and pop-up camper sites include water hookups and 30 amp electric service. The area also contains a spacious restroom facility that includes bathrooms and hot showers.

More than 140 paved, level RV sites span the grounds of Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort, including 40 “pull-through” sites, many that can accommodate RV’s up to 40 feet in length. Each of the sites is equipped with water, sewer and 30-amp electric service. In addition, 60 of the RV sites feature upgraded, 50-amp electric service.

Every campsite has its own charcoal grill and more than 150 picnic tables throughout the campground offer places to gather for socializing and family meals.

The centerpiece of the campground is the Camp Wilderness Lodge, which features a convenience and merchandise store, wireless Internet capability, coin-operated laundry and satellite television service with two large, flat panel television screens. The modern amenities of the lodge complement a rustic interior with 25-foot, wood beam ceilings and a stone fireplace with a massive hearth and mantle. An extensive landscaping project around the exterior of the lodge creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for arriving guests.

Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort offers numerous family leisure activities and recreational sports. Families can splash and play in the warm summer sun in the Camp Wilderness swimming pool, enjoy a round of miniature golf or a game of shuffleboard, stoke their competitive spirit with a friendly game of beach volleyball and entertain the smallest members of the family at the nearly 1,000 square-foot playground.

Paramount’s Carowinds campground operated for more than 30 years on the site of Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort. The multimillion dollar renovation features numerous upgrades and additional amenities, sure to please returning campers as well as those who are visiting for the first time.

Guests at Paramount’s Camp Wilderness Resort also have the opportunity to purchase discount tickets to the Carolinas’ premier entertainment destination, Paramount’s Carowinds. The 108-acre theme and water park, located adjacent to the campground, offers daily tram service to and from the park for campground guests.

Ah, now I look dumb. Don't think they had that stuff posted when I checked before.

We might have to add a cookout and campout to our C3 agenda. :P

That's a bit expensive I think, but hey that's me.

I'm glad though that they put the money into reopening the campground.

It was starting to remind me of "Campground Masacre". lol

LOL. They would make more money off it if they made it a haunted campground.

Well, it says on the website that the cabins accomodate up to 8 people, so it's really not that bad of a price. Then again, I wonder how comfortably it accomodates 8 people.

I was wondering the same. From the picture the cabins look somewhat small or atleast very small to sleep 8.

That sounds pretty good to me.

Man, I leave the country for a few days and everything goes wild.
