So, there has been plenty of discussion about the possible launch on next year's coaster. Since there hasn't been a poll that has to do with this yet, here I go. The poll might run a little past the time the announcement is made, so if one of the moderators could shut it down early, that would be good. It also might be better to say what you think here, so the Track Arrival thread doesn't get too fouled up with opinions.

I want one, but I don't think there will be one. I think Carowinds needs a launch coaster. I've been to KD a couple of times and I just really enjoyed it.

I am not a fan of a launch. I love the steep and 'moderate speed' trip of a newer style chain/cable lift. The newer mega coasters have steep lift hills, which to me, is a huge thrill factor of a big coaster. I guess cause I am not really a fan of heights and it really adds a bit of excitement to the ride. With Millennium Force, the lift hill is the most scariest part of the ride to me, by far. I also enjoy the view of the slower rise to the top. Also, a traditional lift hill is more reliable as Kinga Ka and Dragster has more than proven through it's problems off and on. Now, if we do happen to get a launch, I will be happy with an Incredible Hulk, slower type of launch. Which, if our B&M does have a launch, it will more than likely be that style I would guess. As for a rocket fast launch, I have no desire at all for that.

Honestly , we know nothing about this ride besides the fact that it is a red , B&M. We really know nothing, however , I am doubting the fact that there will be a launch.

I am very surprised that so many people don't want a launch ( I don't want one by the way) but there are getting to be a lot of people in the I Don't Know What to Think Yet Column. I would like to know your opinions, so I elaborated more on the I don't know what to think option. I added-

I don't know what to think yet but I don't want a launch
I don't know what to think yet but I do want a launch
I don't care.

I did not know this would delete every vote cast, so if everyone could vote again (sorry) that would be appreciated. I also apologize for spelling the name of the thread wrong.

It would be interesting if it was a launch. However I dont care if it's a lift hill, launch, lunch, smunch or crunch. As long as it's a decent coaster I will be happy.

Have to admit I'm a purist at heart so IMO a roller coaster is best when its gravity-powered - dragged up a hill a tossed over the top! This is a timeless method that just does something to the human psyche.

That said, I'm not opposed to lauch style rides. I loved the original White Lightn'in (although I was always a little on the fence if it was really a "roller coaster" as opposed to a "coaster-based" thrill ride). Big fan of modern launch coasters when the theming is well done - Incredible Hulk is brilliant with its hybrid lift design themed to be the gamma gun and I have Maverick on my list of coasters to ride. But then rides like Top Thrill Dragster and Kinda Ka tend to border on not being a roller coaster and instead crossing into a more extreme coaster-based thrill ride.

Not trying to make debate - just stating my opinion. I know it differs from alot of folks.

On topic I'd prefer the see any launch-style coaster in Carowinds' future to come from Intamin. I believe they're hitting the ball out of the park on rides like the aforementioned Maverick at Cedar Point.
