I am thinking about getting a platinum pass. But have no idea that I am going to any of those parks. If I wait too long to think about it, I might miss opening day. So should I stick with a gold pass and save the $70 or should I buy a platinum and wait a while and maybe go to those parks if I have time to drive out there?

P.S. I have never been to any of the other parks so take that into consideration in your answer as well please.

In advance thank you for your advice.

I dunno...is it worth it? The big question is do you even plan on going to other cedar fair parks this year? If no, then don't get the pass. If you're going to another once, then no just pay the admission. If you plan on going to another cedar fair park twice or atleast 2 different cedar fair parks then get it...

Next time I'm gonna charge you.

I think we would go to a lot of the parks but just once.

I don't mean this as offensive, but you kinda sound like a typical general public enthusiast. If you've never been to any other Cedar Fair parks before, why all of a sudden would you go to them all now? Aside from Kings Dominion, the rest of them are a good bit farther off, I mean you've got:

-Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA
-Dorney Park in Allentown, PA
-Kings Island in Mason, OH
-Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH
-Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon, MI
-Valleyfair in Shakopee, MN
-Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, MO
-Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA
-Gilroy Gardens in Gilroy, CA
-California's Great Adventure in Santa Clara, CA

So it would appear that unless you are doing A LOT of traveling this year, it's probably not worth it.

Cut the dude some slack...it seems they wanna go to all the cedar fair parks cause in looking at season pass options they realize they can. Why ask why they wanna go now? At one point I only went to sfog but I realize I could go to other six flags parks with my pass so I made an effort to get to those parks. And besides, they don't have to have a reason to go. They can just wanna go!

Who cares the distance of how far they are from each other? Planes fly daily and people can plan road trips. And a "typical general public enthusiast" gimme a break...in that case you're sounding like a holier than thou know it all ACE'r. The original question was is it worth it, not assume and question why this person wants to explore their cedar fair park options, who do you work for six flags?

Cedar Point is worth the trip. I'm planning on getting a Platinum pass and go to Kings Dominion a few times as well as Cedar Point again as well as Kings Island. But if you are just going to say Kings Dominion, they have their special "Everyones a Kid" ticket days, which is cheaper.

Now, now Jarvis... He says

"I am thinking about getting a platinum pass. But have no idea that I am going to any of those parks."

Based on this statement alone I'm assuming that he isn't going to all of the parks that would be covered by the Platinum Pass, therefore buying a super expensive pass wouldn't be worth it for him. He should buy a normal pass and as you suggested, buy a day ticket if he ventures to Kings Dominion. And I'm glad you branched out from just Six Flags over Georgia, although I highly doubt you went to SFoG, SFKK, SFMM, SFGrAdv, & SFoT all in the same year. Kinda how I feel like this guy isn't gonna go all over American this year visiting Cedar Fair parks.

Who cares how far they are apart from each other? Considering he says that he's driving to these places, the distance between them is fairly important. And the fact that he says "if I have time" would lead me to believe he isn't going to take excessive days off and do a month long driving coaster trip just to visit all the Cedar Fair parks. And the "typical general public enthusiast" wasn't meant as a jab. It was meant as a comment to describe a general public person who likes coasters, but not as much as us enthusiasts do. I'm not a holier that thou know it all ACE'er and I don't work for Six Flags, although I'd love to seeing as I'd put in way less hours there than I do with my job as an ACE Asst. Rep.

Fair enough, I totally disregarded his initial post when he said they would go to a lot of parks but just once...

I say go ahead and get the Platinum. It kind of gives you incentive to get out and enjoy more of the offerings. It just makes traveling easier since you know you don't have to shell out money at the gate when you get there. Plus, how long are you going to miss that $70.00 if you go visit other parks?

I just stuck with the gold. We can pay the admission when we get to the parks later.

Yeah, I'm not even going Platinum at this point, and I may go to CP, KI, and definitely KD. I say GOLD, then upgrade if you plan to go to Ohio.
