305 is more interesting to the coaster enthusiast world because it is more unique. Our Intimidator is awesome, and possibly even the better ride (can't make this judgment yet for myself), but it's not that much different than Behemoth and Diamondback, not to mention the numerous other speed coasters B&M has built over the last decade. Everyone pretty much knows what they are doing to get with Intimidator whether they have been on it or not. I-305, not the case. Plus, now that it has opened, there seems to be even more to discuss. The absurd lift hill speed, the blacking out in the first turn, the way it runs through the course at a crazy speed.
As for the national news, I'm not sure how accurate that is. I have seen Intimidator on a lot of national publications and news shows. I would not be surprised if 305 is getting more coverage, though, simply because of its height. Intimidator is the 8th tallest coaster in North America, and I-305 is the 5th, but more importantly, it breaks that elusive 300 foot barrier. It's also closer to the DC media market.
