I noticed on my visit to the park that the tunnel to thunder road is completely gone! What was that all about. Why would they do that. What I liked about it was the anticipation for the tunnel and they just tore it out. What are your thoughts?

I went today, probably should have asked. My guess is they are preparing that part of the track for retracking. How could they do that in a tunnel?

You know when I was there last time I knew something was different about thunder road! I loved the tunnel I dont understand why they would take it out either. Maybe they did it because the next part of rehab is that section or something? Maybe it will come back.

Maybe it's gone because they were affraid that people would be dying to get out of those HORRIFIC seats they have installed this year and might be hanging out of the cars.

Well, this is a complete guess, but I'd assume it's for the same reason that they removed the tunnels on Cyclone, Goldrusher, and the White Water Rapids. Bats.

As I said, just a guess, but it would make sense.

Was there sunday, and rode both sides. Left side rode in the very back, rough as hell got beat around. The roof of the tunnel is still there, they just removed the sides of the tunnel. However the uphill to the turn-around was smooth were you can see all the fresh wood.

Rode in the very first car on right side, and the entire ride was as smooth as glass. Atleast for a woodie, but it was very smooth. Ended up riding the right side in the front 2 more times after that. And again roof of the tunnel on the right side was there, but the sides were removed.

Just to note, Rapids' tunnel was not removed because of bats, it collasped after a snow storm.

^I am sorry but does anyone else find this hysterical? With the exception of this year, this region gets very little snow....still sad to have seen it go. I know that it best that was removed but I really wish they would stick something there to add a little kick to the ride, it just seems dull now because the last two minutes of the ride is just nothing. Some waterbombs would fit there really well and give the ride some life. Almost an "attack" on the riders from nowhere.
