Somewhere deep within one of the many Carowinds threads on the net there was some discussion about Paramounts Carowinds and how far away they advertise from their local parks. I can honestly say that I have never seen a Paramount commercial in Atlanta. My folks have lived there since 1980 and though I have maintained my Charlotte residence, I would have either seen one or heard about it from someone else.

Well, it looks like Six Flags is starting their nationwide commercial campaign. Tonight, on ABC here in Charlotte, I saw a Six Flags commercial. This wasn't specifically for SFoG, it was just for Six Flags parks in general.

Personally, I think Paramount should advertise in other markets besides their local ones. I guess locally could be defined within 200 miles or less. I realize there are more Six Flags parks out there but I also think that a national advertising campaign may be worth the $$ to help spur visitors and even the local economy. In fact, Paramount could even solicit some of these national advertising funds from the cities associated with the parks: ie, Richmond, Cincinnati, Toronto, etc. Because this would not only bring visitors to the park but it would also invite visitors to spend $$ elsewhere in these cities.

I doubt this will ever happen. Just a thought.....

I saw a commercial for Pigeon Forge (Which emphasized Dollywood) on WBTV/CBS last night.

I think that if Paramount began long distance advertising, much like Busch does, it could increase attendance somewhat. If not, it would help awareness be increased do people are educated about Carowinds.

I live a little over 200 miles away from Carowinds. When I'm traveling to Carowinds I sometimes hear the radio commercials when I get near Statesville, NC. I'm not sure if they advertise around Asheville or not. I see a lot of Dollywood commercials on tv & Six Flags commercials (WCYB/Bristol). It would really help Paramount Parks to advertise nationally, but that would cost a lot more. If Six Flags, Bush Gardens, & Sea World can do it then I think Paramount can to. I believe it would increase attendance to all Paramount Parks.

I rarely,if ever,hear Carowinds commercials in Raleigh. B)
