Hmmm thats an interesting story. I dont see why it matters who inspects the rides, as long as they are licensed to do so I dont see it being a problem. Not 100% of every single problem is going to be found so I mean no matter who inspects the rides, problems will still arise and accidents will happen, luckily carowinds has not had many at all. I do think that the ride does need to be ran before being opened (unlike what happend in bejing I guess). Thanks for sharing the story.

I actually have met and talked with Tommy Petty before and he has said that North Carolina is one of the strictest is the country for ride inspections. His crew inspects everything on the NC side of Carowinds. Also, random fact, I asked him how they go about inspecting Goldrusher and Thunder Road (since they border the two states.) He said that they do the inspection for Goldrusher, but SC does the T-Road inspection. Why? It depends on which state the station buildings are located in. I just thought that might be kinda interesting.

That was an interesting read. I've never felt unsafe on any of the rides at Carowinds. It has always appeared to me that they place ride safety as #1.

Yeah, I never meant to imply that the rides were not safe. I saw it on the news and thought I would post the link so everyone else could see it. I know everyone always hates sitting on Nighthawk and they have to keep coming back and rechecking the safety harness cause the computer doesn't think it is latched.

I am glad that there haven't been many accidents due to rider safety at carowinds. Thanks to all you employees.

Yea, the only ride i feel is "unsafe" so to say is intimidator. I would feel a lot better if we had actual seat belts or something to hold on too besides the person beside you, hahaha.
Carolina cyclone scared me when i rode it, not in an unsafe way but in a "I sure hope i dont get a headache" way. That thing had me hitting my head numerous times. Word of advice, the front seat is painful. Hahaha!
Thunder road shakes you like chihuahua, I felt as if somebody had turned a massage chair on dangerously high times 10. Personally Thunder road just feels rickety, It's as old as dirt and i think it could be replaced with something a lot more safer. It's a great piece of history and all but if i had to choose between something that is more advanced in safety then a piece of history, i would choose advanced safety.

I didn't think you were and I don't think anybody read that into what you posted.

I have been places were I have questioned the safety of the rides and whether or not anybody has ever inspected them.

I read what he posted, I was just giving my opinion on how i feel some of the rides are. I mean intimidator is an accident waiting to happen

Yea i know you weren't implying that carowinds was unsafe because i know their number one goal is safety. That doesn't mean i feel unsafe hahahaha

Intimidator has more than one safety system engaged in the harnesses. B&M made is seem more venerable with that appearing to be the only thing saving your life, where as it has like double or even triple safety latches.

Carowinds has a unique situation with it bordering North and South Carolina. On the south side it has private inspectors and on the north state inspectors. Either way the government still does ensure safety, because state auditors randomly check their inspections.

The auditors don't just check their inspections. They also check how the people are being trained and how they are running the rides on a daily basis.
