So after the second hill, when all the low bars are right above the trains (the headchoppers) or whatever you want to call them. Anyone else get the impression that they are literally so low you CAN NOT put your hands up? Im not ballsy enough to find out lol. But if they are that low, how is that legal?

I've never risked it and I don't plan to.

I'm sure it's just an optical illusion like how Beast's tunnel looks too small for the train to fit.

YEa you can put your hands up no problem. I think they design the rides with plenty of clearance for that, although I did hit my hand on the tunnel on the Grizzly @ KD, but I know the goldrush is high enough cause i always hold my hands up, it does look risky though.

Hell yeah it does. They look SUPER low. It's good to know it's safe and you can hold your hands up, I didn't know. But I'm definitely not trying it.

Im referring specifically to the really low ones after the second hill. I've been on GR probably 150 times and I have never seen a single person with their hands up during THAT part of the ride, if you have, that's cool, but no one has ever had them up while I've been on it the bajillion times I have.

Edit: I just looked at 3 different POV's on youtube and in each video hands and heads went down right before the bars.

Which poses the question, if Goldrusher has never had a serious accident then why do we have such ridiculous safety rules these days?

Why does the state of North Carolina require seat belts on non-looping coasters like Goldrusher?

I can see the point on something like Cyclone (which ran 30 years without them just fine), but still there's no way you could wiggle out of Goldrusher unless you're like 10 and even then, what's to stop you from taking the belt off yourself and still jumping out.

I don't have an issue with the seat belt, ever worked Goldie? Or any coaster...the seat belts get stuck a lot but they are for safety. I wish Goldie's height limit wasn't so high but better safe.

North Carolina does NOT require seat belts. The seat belts were added on many rides and in many parks to add a "secondary restraint device" to create another layer of redundancy. It was more important on a ride like Goldrusher where the restraint locks to the level of the largest person in the car.

I still don't understand why they needed to add belts to Cyclone, which are individual ratcheting OTSRs that never have had a problem ever.

I can see the point on Goldrusher which is a bar across two riders, instead of individual riders.

You better believe that the insurance is cheaper with the seatbelts too.
