I have an suggestion....

Can Carowinds offer some parking lot golf cart type service for those who have to park way out in rows 16 and further. For some people, by the time you walk from your car to the gate enterance, your legs are so tired after a 2 mile walk.
Maybe invest in some carts like they got for first-aid and offer people rides from the far out parking spots to the curbside near the handicap parking spaces.

What are your thoughts? Just an idea....

It isnt a mile from North Gate around Intimidator to Carowinds Blvd...Carowinds had trams in the early 70s.

If you can't walk to the front gate, how do you expect to walk around the park all day? The parking lot walk pales in comparison to the miles you'll trudge inside the park.

I may be old in age (40+), but I am young at heart still and love the excitement.
I was making the suggestion for the older folks who like to take their grandkids.
sure the young people (those under 30) can walk and walk and walk.
anyways, it was just an idea.
be blessed

You guys shouldn't have been so hard on him for just making a suggestion. Like he said, some elderly guest do have difficulty moving around, where they just want to have a good time with their grand kids.

They had trams as recent as the early 80's...I remember riding them...lol

EDIT (Didn't mean to double post)
FYI...for those with elderly guests or those who have trouble walking long distances, they do have a drop off/pick up area. You would just have to circle around again to go through the parking attendants after you dropped them off. Of course that only works if it's just passengers...drivers just have to deal with it.

The older person bringing/chaperoning children is a circumstance where the extra walking is a pain. Perhaps Carowinds *could* institute a shuttle/tram on a pay-per-ride deal on busy days. Request and pay for it at the parking attendant booth and then wait with your tickets at a designated area for the shuttle to pick you up. Charge per ride or per person enough to cover the program and make a profit. Use an extended golf cart or something similar that doesn't need a full car lane of space. Use a trained security guard as the operator of the shuttle so he/she could also be extra eyes in the parking lot.

Also I've seen times when I could park closer to the gate in the general parking than I could in the gold pass parking, or so it seemed. I don't count steps.

I think a valid alternative to this crazy tram idea, would just have vip parking. You get out at the gate, and someone parks your car for a small fee.

chknwing,
That's called valet parking.

I want to add I'm fine with the current parking situation. I find no problem walking nor does anyone in my party. And if someone in my party couldn't walk that far I'd let them out at the gate before I go park. The shuttle/tram concept might be too much of a liability for a park already very concerned with liability. Since the patrons aren't in the gate yet the liability would likely be different than for inside-the-park activities.

Of course the way to get your suggestion considered is to share it with park personnel. All you'll get here is comments about it, which is how it should be.
