General Carowinds discussion

My only trip to Carowinds was in 2011 on Easter Sunday. The crowd was very moderate and not too busy. It appears to be packed today and I would expect the same tomorrow (Saturday). It's hard to tell how it will be Sunday since Fury325 is new and that will attract more people (like me). I am coming down from Northern VA Sunday and Monday. I'm considering getting a Fast Lane Pass Monday depending on the crowds. I've found that Easter Sunday at amusement parks are pretty good days to go as many people are going to church and visiting family at that time. Like I said though predicting crowds is hard to do.

We came yesterday (good friday) and the park was VERY crowded. Every parking spot was full until the South Gate. We barely had room to walk around in Planet Snoopy. (I'll have video up soon).

I just got back from the park and it wasn't too bad crowd wise. Fury's line started out long but it calmed down. They have put in a new temporary queue section for busier days Instead of going down the service road, they break up the 1st and 2nd queue section and send you behind the fence on the other side, under the lift hill.

The line was bad at first because it was down in the 30's this morning again so Fury didn't open until 10:30am.

I think the biggest problem today were the cankerworms and pollen and of course the people who do not understand height limits, the no bags policy, etc.

They probably in the future will place a permanent third que section there. I was never sure to why they only had the two long slim sections compared to Gatekeeper's 5 or Banshee's 4 huge squares. As long as it's covered with the shading I'll be fine.

That's a good idea, but isn't the que extension over a maintenance road? Wouldn't they have to reroute it? Or is there not enough space back there?

We ended up going too. I think we got there about 1 PM and left about 7 PM. Crowds were not too bad. Lines kept moving pretty well. We really tried to ride more of the less popular rides today (Screamweaver, Southern Star, Thunder Road, Cyclone, Windseeker ) and we hardly spent any time in lines at all. We only rode Fury twice, but still had a bunch of fun.

It was a really great day at the park, until I bit into my fried fish from Dockside Fries. The young woman told me I was going to have to wait a few minutes for my fish, but that they were going be really fresh because they had to fry up a new batch. So, I waited. And I eagerly bit into my freshly fried fish, only to find the middle still frozen. I'd have been glad to wait a couple more minutes, really.

Ok, I think I have to give a the people barfing on rides a little slack... maybe it's not entirely the fault of the person barfing. You never know what they might have gotten served from the Carowinds food places.

Hmm, the ultimate drop test.

That reminds me. I saw an epic phone phone disaster/loss at the park yesterday, on the new slingshot,

The people (and the seats) got yanked back down from the initial launch, the phone kept going up!

When I rode it, I had my camera harness on. Mike was okay with me filming on it using my harness, but the ride ops weren't apparently. So I didn't get footage. Good thing too, the ride didn't scare me at all so it wouldn't have been worth watching really. Meanwhile, speaking of video, does anyone know how much said video will cost for that ride?
