General Carowinds discussion

I was wondering how many of you have been to the other Paramount parks. I have vistited all of them except for Great America and I have to say that Carowinds is the Gem of the Paramount chain. I also liked Canada's Wonderland, but I have only been there once. Carowinds seems to have good management and an excellent collection of coasters. The only thing I would change about this park is the lack of flat rides. I have the feeling that Carowinds will be added a couple of flat rides over the next couple of seasons.

^^^PKI may disagree with that.

I agree with Loco. If anything PKI is the Gem and Carowinds is the Red Headed Step Child

I think he means the most underated park in the chain, not the best.

On that ground, I'll have to agree.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Carowinds is the red headed stepchild. Look at PGA. Aside from Boomerang Bay it seems that they are losing more attractions and we are gaining them. They've lost two rollercoasters in two seasons. For the past few seasons at Carowinds, we've seen new themed areas and at least some sort of new attraction, although small ones. This year we have Borg along with general park improvements. Seems like PC is moving on up the link in the chain.

What's the purpose of your CSX logo as your avatar? That's who I work for.

I think it looks pretty.

(I'm also a railfan--N&W, L&N, Southern, and Clinchfield. :))

I happen to carry coal trains from the old clinchfield side onto the Charlotte subdivison. I board the trains in Bostic and carry to Terrell and Riverbend.

Sorry for getting off topic, but there is another thread out there speaking of how slow things are right now on CC.

That's cool. I've did some chasing around Bostic before. I might have been chasing you!

I'm not really into SAL at the moment. I need to build up my library on it (And ACL as well).

Carowinds has really been fixed up since I first went back in '96. Could it be moving up since it's close to Paramount Parks headquarters or it just needs some TLC period? I think PKI has always been the gem of the paramount parks and then maybe PKD because they seem to get the most unique rides.

I've been to 3... PKI, PKD, PC

PKI is by far my favorite, just for the Beast I think. I think it's still the best park as far as parks go.

If you are talking about coasters, I'd go with PKD. They have a great collection.

Although PC is coming up in the ranks really fast. :)

If we get a hyper in 2007, I think PC might pass PKD in my book. lol :)

PKI is the step leader and the chain of all the p parks. And they hold the tallest wooden and the only wooden with a loop!

Well, we can forgive them for SOB. At least it hasn't been allowed to breed anymore.

I went to PKD last weekend and I wasn't very impressed. Volcano was the only thing I rode that was better than expected, well and Grizzly. I would say PC was already above PKD but then the amazing masses of people at PKD told me otherwise.
