I found this out for all you roller coasters yesterday. The Hurricane, located in Myrtle Beach, SC will be finding a new home. The tall wooden roller coaster by the sea will be re-loctaed to the Broadway at the Neach area after the Pavilon's depletion in a few years. I know most of you guys know this but just thought ya'll wouls like to know some in the loop Myrtle Beach news! Ta Ta

Very Interesting. I was wondering if they would be moving Pavilion Rides to Broadway. Had no Idea they would move anything as big as the coaster though. Anyone know what else may be going? I always loved their Haunted House but they may not be worth the trouble to rebuild unless they plan to recreate a whole new gate at Broadway at the Beach. <_<

Ocean Blvd won't be the same without the Pavilion there.

I wonder if they will build a new park across Hwy 17 from Broadway? There's no room that I'm aware of on the Broadway side of the road.

I was thinking about that too. But it seems like there is a large amount of space as you enter Broadway at the Beach, before you get to the parking areas as you are heading to the Imax and Dragon's Lair Golf. Although they would propably need a new parking garage if they build a full park again... hopefully without a fee this time considering the location.

The Section between the Aquarium and the Hotel is a good size but doesn't leave much room for parking. However the Hotel would benefit greatly.

The areas I was referring to are to the upper left side of the picture. There is lots of room there for a park and parking.

I'm still searching for the source of this info. The Myrtle Beach Sun News doesn't have this article anywhere and they are usually the first to print Pavilion related news.

Yes, this has been a rumor for a long time, and most of us know the Pavilion really is in danger of being lost, but I will be convinced when I see the actual source CMT got that info from.

It could be true and it wouldn't surprise me, but being the skeptic I am, I need to hear it from a legitimate source before I believe it.

The plans for the Pavilion aren't final yet. There is a proposal for that area but it hasn't been *approved* yet. The new proposal does include a roller coaster possibly NASCAR themed. Some of the MB area folks feel that there is a chance that the Pavilion could be saved.

As far as the Hard Rock Park, nothing new on that front. I read somewhere about possible themed areas in the park but I haven't seen any concrete proof.

The last I heard about a possible new location for the Pavilion was near the new ballpark in the Broadway at the Beach area.

I was just down there this weekend and as far as I could tell, there's nothing new on any of the two fronts. I have relatives down there too so they keep me informed of any news and so far nothing.

I'bve never been to the Pavillion. I probaly did when I was a baby, but I was to small to remember it. Its a shame that it'll be gone though. I mean, who would want it gone, its like a landmark.

Now just what 3 trees are you talking about? And only three? If you ask me, they should build a theme park out in them woods.

I've been to Broadway at the Beach!!! I think that the Hurricane would have a nice new home there. Lets just hope they maintain it better.

It would be really cool to have the hurricane go over the lake.

There's a link to the latest in the Pavilion situation. There are some links on the right side of the article that tells you about the proposal for the area.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the "new" pavilion sounds rather dull and nothing like a huge year round draw that they seem to think it will become. The Hotel will surely do well enough, but more shops and some restaurants.... yawn. We already have plenty of those and we have Broadway and Barefoot as total shopping, eating, playing destinations.

Oh well, it seems they will learn all too late about mistakes they will be making. I would possibly support a replacement, if it was something more interesting. I don't quite understand the point of the coaster either. A pay per ride attraction that just winds around the place... eh... I can see the profit and fun factor of this wearing off rather quickly. Look at all the coasters at Vegas that are not doing well. They charge up to $10 or so for a ride too!

I wouldn't mind seeing the downtown section revitalized, but I don't see why they can't keep the Pavilion the same and just clean it up a bit.

The project sounds like it will bulldoze several blocks in that area, not just the Pavilion. I can't say that the coaster that travels over sidewalks sounds all that exciting either.

Sounds like something just to keep us from screaming that they've taken the coasters out.
