This is my trip report to Carowinds last Saturday June 13th for the Sonfest concerts.

Arrived around 11:30 am. Spent about 10 minutes waiting to pay $10 to park my car way out in left field near the South Gate. The line to get in was long. Spent 20 minutes waiting to go through Security, making sure we weren't bringing in any contraband like food or water. I went with my wife and our 7 year old son. She took him to Nick Central, and I went and stood on line for Afterburn. Line was about 40 min wait. Ride was worth it. Coaster was very smooth and great ride. Then went and stood on line for Vortex. It has been awhile since I have been on a standup coaster. But it was also a lot of fun. Spent about 45 min waiting for that one. Then met up with my wife and son as they were on the bumper cars and then went on the Southern Star. My son was too scared to go on, but we had alot of fun. It was practically walk on. We then stopped and got some sodas. Bought two of those souvenier cups filled with soda. With tax it cost almost $18. Wow!!. Needless to say, I didn't bother refilling them with soda, but with water, as it was very HOT that day. Then we headed over towards the concert pavillion. I spent most of the rest of the day there, while my wife took my son on a bunch of non coaster rides. One thing I did notice, is that the concession area at the concert pavillion smelled like a horse manure farm, complete with flies. EWWWWW!. Between the big acts (Third day and TobyMac I ran over to get a ride on Nighthawk. Thought since the other coasters had lines of about 45 min then this would too. It actually took about 75 minutes. It was definately worth it for the unique experience, although the coaster could be a bit rough at times. Then I headed back over towards the concert pavillion halfway through Tobymac, and then went home afterwords. Prices for food were so ridiculus that we ended up not eating there (thank God I had a breakfast burrito I ate, while waiting to get in, as I know I would have to consume it before entering.) All in all a great day, my son had a blast (his first time at Carowinds) and I enjoyed a really great concert (real reason for going) and got to go on a couple of cool coasters to boot. I look forward to going back, hopefully for Coaster stock (if I can find someone to carpool with as it will be a long day) and for Christian Music Day in September.

There is DEFINITELY some stink in that area walking from the season pass lot to the entrance. I noticed it last weekend. NASTY. Is there a plumbing problem somewhere?
