Day 1 (10/21/2015) - Part 1
Yes, I know, I just went here eleven months ago and yes, I know that I'm only 14 which leaves very little for me to do. But hey, when a free trip to Vegas is available, why not take it. Fortunately, my dad qualified for the free trip with CarMax a couple months ago and now we're here again!
We got up at 4:00 in the morning and rushed to Charlotte Douglas before boarding a flight to Newark, New Jersey. Although the flight was a good bit out of the way, I did get to see Manhattan for the first time. Five hours later we landed on the West coast and were ready to start the day. We checked in at Mandalay Bay and grabbed a bite to eat at 800 Degrees Pizza.
The food was amazing. I probably would've enjoyed it more if the toppings stayed on, but other than that it was delicious. The cheese bread we got was just as good and left us full for awhile. After 800 Degrees, we made the bad decision of walking one and a half miles all the way to Circus Circus. (A mistake we would not repeat again thanks to the city bus).
I guess you could say I was excited, but for different reasons than you'd probably expect. As a park, it's really not that much to brag about. But considering I'd finally get to go in after seeing that it was closed last year was exciting. Plus the park is home to one of two El Loco coasters in America, so that's something to be happy about.
I walked in and had a little bit of trouble finding the ticket booth right away. Luckily, the park isn't that big, so if you just keep walking you're bound to find it. Three things I noticed about this park right away. First, I really don't think you can call Adventuredome an amusement park, but really just an arcade with roller coasters in it. I'm not even joking, there's enough arcade games here to fill three Dave & Buster's. Second, there was hardly and decor for the "Frightdome". Maybe they drag all of it out at night, or maybe it's just that bad. All I can say is that what I saw during the day hours does not justify closing the park for an entire week during November. Thirdly, on a positive note, the park was completely dead. I don't know if this is just a slow time of year or if people would rather gamble their money away than ride roller coasters. Either way, fine by me!
Once I bought the all-day pass, (which is the best deal if you want to ride more than one thing), i made my way to my first ride of the day. Chaos!
This one of the few rides here that I was actually kinda excited about. To my knowledge, and when I say "to my knowledge", I mean "take the following with a grain of salt". But, to my knowledge, this is the only one left in America. The ride itself was a lot more fun than I expected. Probably one of the most out-of-control flat rides I've ever been on. It's sad that they've been disappearing, but when a ride tries to kill it's passengers, you can't just keep it hanging around.
