Ok everyone, on this trip I took my Son and 3 of his friends (all females between 25 - 28). They had come up from doing a little Army School down in Ft. Jackson and wanted a little break with some good times. So, I treated them all to a visit to the world renowned Scarowinds Adventure. Altho it was my second visit I was still looking forward to going as the first visit was only their second opening day of this year. Getting cast members that were a little more experienced made a lot of difference this time around. No, I did not get frightened but I can't say that for the other 3. Seems they share a common Coulrophobia . Hmm...

We arrived inside the park around 8pm. An hour late for a crowded night but things did not go too badly. Seems as if my Son and I were the only ones who had ever ridden Borg so guess what we had to do first! Arghh, I explained it would be a good hour wait but they didn't care so in we went. The line moved pretty well but it was still 9:15 by the time we got off.

Bathroom visit was next in line. Something about going to Carowinds, Home Depot or Wall Mart. Every time I enter I got to go. Hmm...

I had been talking about everything there was to do at Scarowinds and left all the decisions up to them. It was after more a trip for them than me. I had explained there was no way we could ride the rides and see all the haunts arriving an hour late so the decided to nix the rides and get scared. This was great news to me. I wanted to give the Haunts a second chance.

The only Haunt we did not do was Dead Inn. Mainly because we wanted to see the Freak Show Deluxe. That in itself prooved to be worth it. The show was a lot more fluid in its presentation but please be warned it is Adult themed still. Extremely funny, exciting and it lives up to its name. No sword swallowing this but but plenty of fire eating, bed of nails complete with the shattering if a cement block, walking up a ladder of swords and whips.

All of the Haunts were better in their presentation as the cast members seemed to be more in tune with their mazes. Several notable members again just made the night creepy, instead of just jumping at you and screaming, they were just eerie and would surround you. Costumes seemed a lot better and were more realistic.

My big question again is this: Is there a regulation that forbids you from putting a roof on the mazes? The 2 in question are Final Summons and the Dream Factory. Dead Inn had its roof, ala the old arcade. It just really takes away from the attraction looking up and seeing the building.

As for their shared phobia all I can say is I really wish I could have taken pictures inside.

On a final note I saw Scott standing beside The Dead Inn and stopped and talked to him for a minute. I found it interesting he remembered me AND he new I was the one who had not visited the park this year. I just explained it was simple that I was just tired of the same OLD things every year. There was no real talk about the future as I don't really want to know everything, I do like little hints tho. He still seemed happy about the direction Cedar Fair is going and strongly believed that once the "BIG" thing comes will be worth the wait.

So people, think of it for what you will. I do like Scarowinds as night time in parks are always great I just don't frighten that easy. Everyone around us was having a great time and were getting their monies worth. Maybe one day they will have an ADULT only section that will have you soaking your pants before you leave. We'll see! :P

What happened to the attraction that was supposed to be Adults only?

Was that just the show? I thought they said there was a haunt that was supposed to be a lot scarier?

Next year they will outdo themselves. They will have a maze with huge blowups of Jarvis in the speedo. That will scare the crap out of everyone!

Mark, there was a question over on another site about the coasters.

Have they been running all the coasters (excluding the kiddie ones of course)??

Both times I went they were all open. With, of course, Top Gun and Backwards T.R. being closed at the time.

I was surprised that Hurler was open. I thought with the new Haunt there it would not be open but I guess the dry screaming greasless track added to the scares.

I dont think there is any other way to run huler unfortunately....

I went this saturday being the 20th and had a blast! the lines were really long, but for the most part the scaracters were all enjoying their job and trying their best to scare people. And maybe its just me but i think top gun is running faster than i ever remember it running, on the hill over the station the train is/ or was flying over, instead of crawling over like it used to do...
