The Charlotte Observer has an article about a place 50 miles south of Charlotte (off I-77) called Carolina Adventure World.

Although the park seems to center around "dirt" sports (ATV, dirt bikes, etc), They do have a video of what looks like a really nice zip line 1/2 mile long! The video of all 3 legs of the zip line is seen here:

They also have tent camping and RV parking.

Could be a nice alternative for those who enjoy this type of thing.

That looks very cool! Hmmm, you ride ATV's, you got CAW. You like to ride the rapids, you got the Whitewater Center. All within a short drive of downtown Charlotte.
