Not sure how accurate this is, but I guess we'll see within the next few months.

KINGS MILL, Ohio -- Kings Island said it is unlikely that the Son of Beast roller coaster will reopen when the park opens for the season in April.

However, park officials said the wooden roller coaster will reopen sometime during the summer.

Since the Son of beast opened in 2000, six incidents involving injuries have been reported, including one last June.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture inspected the Son of Beast and cleared in to reopen. However, park officials said it is talking with engineering firms to come up with a long-term fix for the ride.

The park said it has spent nearly $30 million for construction and repairs to the ride.

I am with those on repeat offenders, I mean riders. I rode it 8 times in a row then came back the next morning and rode it 3 more times before heading to the Point. We were on a sort of coaster travel with my kids. I found out very quickly to get into the first 2 cars or walk away. All that bruising and headaches went away for me and the ride was smooth enough for me to enjoy.

Now, I can agree on tearing it down just because I don't think it is worth the money they have to keep pumping into it. Just think of what they could have done with the $30 mil spent on trying to get it right.

Maybe CF is waiting for the final verdict (no pun intended) on the Texas Giant rehab, which most of you probably know is undergoing a major transformation from a wood track to steel I-beam track coaster. If it proves successful, I could see Mean Streak and SoB going in that direction. Otherwise, there is probably no hope. The "once mighty" Hercules met it's fate at Dorney Park so it's not beyond CF to tear it down.
