After last year's trip being such a blast, me and three of my other friends decided to go back to Kings Island and Cedar Point this year. We left Greenville around 7:00 AM so we would get into Kings Island around 3:00. On the way up it was raining most of the way which had some of us a little worried for when we got into Kings Island.
Once we got into the park, we headed straight for the Beast. It rained on the first few rides, but after that it was sunny skies for the rest of the trip. The rain kept the crowds away on the first day as well, with wait times for Beast and Diamondback under 10 minutes each. The Beast, just like last year was what I was most excited for while at Kings Island. Still my favorite wooden coaster, and it will be interesting if it still stays king if I ever get the chance to ride El Toro or the Voyage, although I think they would top it. Soon after we headed right for Diamondback, we all decided to sit in the back row to experience the airtime. For the first half of the ride, it has just as much airtime as Intimidator. However, once you hit the mid course break run in the middle of the ride, the ejector airtime barely turns into floater airtime on the remaining 3 or 4 hills. Because of this, Intimidator is a much better ride than Diamondback.
After Diamondback we did all the other rides in the park except for Firehawk. We managed to do Firehawk last year and since Nighthawk is a much better coaster, we decided not to wait in the long line for it. Apparently flying over a lake compared to flying over just grass at the edge of the park makes a big difference. Delirium was more fun than I remember it being and also forgetting you get a llittle bit of airtime when it is going full swing. Hopefully a Huss Giant Frisbee will be put in front of Intimidator some point in the future. We ended our first day with a front row night ride on the Beast. This was one of the most incredible experiences on a roller coaster. Being in the woods, it was barely light enough to see the track in front of you, fireflies were going off as your raced across the track. The second day was a little bit more crowded than the first, but just as fun. Then we were off to Cedar Point
We arrived into Cedar Point the next day around noon. The park was PACKED for some reason on a Wednesday . Our first ride Mantis, we waited an hour for. This was typically the waits for all the rides through out the day. Even though the first day was incredibly packed, it was still a blast for the day. The second day we decided we are not going to deal with the lines at all and we all purchased Fast Lanes. All I can say is, the Fast Lane was sooo worth the $40. Even though most of the lines were reasonable, the big stuff like Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, and Millennium Force were still around an hour wait. The Fast Lane cut the wait times of all of these down to under 10 minutes, with Maverick being as low as a 100 second wait. At one point in the day, me and my friend Travis decided we were going to ride Millennium Force as many times as we wanted. It evolved from, lets ride it 3 in a row to lets see if we can do 10 in an hour, to eventually we wanted to go for my personal record of riding a coaster in one day, which was 22 on Intimidator. We managed to ride Millennium Force 24 times on that day, which on the 23rd time the fireworks from Luminosity were going off while we raced along the track. Truly a perfect way to end the trip. Cedar Point was such a blast this year, I cannot wait to come back, especially with a new B&M Wing Rider in the park's future.
