I mean yes of course we will get a new one. It's just will it be coaster like Intimidator where everyone is very excited to ride it and is not the same as every other coaster, or will it be something like Carolina Cobra where it's nice to have, but is not special in any way.

Coasters alone won't make carowinds the cedar point of the south, we will need more thrill rides and family rides to achive that.

Countdown to becoming a wishlist thread in 3.. 2...

LOL Doug, that's one benefit to doing 90 on a coaster instead of your car.

Back on topic, Alpengeist sucks and I don't understand the praise for it. It's too big and drawn out to be good. (see Montu, Afterburn, Nemesis on how to Inverted coaster correctly)

The Beast. Maybe good in 1979, not so much these days. I understand "why" its important, but it hasn't been good in over 15 years. It's very Millennium Forceish just meandering along at speed but not really doing anything. I used to love it when I was a noob, but then I rode Boulder Dash and that taught me what a real romp through the woods is.

Someone make a "Underrated Coasters" thread I want to use my giant coaster count to say nice things once in a while. :?

The most disappointing coasters I can remember were Boulder Dash (2004), Shivering Timbers (2005), Raging Bull (2005), Mystery Mine (2007) and Colossus at Thorpe (2012).

Fortunately, Boulder Dash completely redeemed itself and more last year thanks to the combination of night rides and the incredible GCI track work. It is one of my top 5 coasters now.

I totally agree with you!! If they replace the trains with the stadium seating like Apollo chariots and intimidator, magnum would be EPIC with airtime.

Magnum might be my favorite steel coaster. Definitely some bruises though after marathon riding, especially in 1-3 with the trims off!

Alpengeist was good when it first opened. I rode in '97 and '99 and was my first inverted. However the last time I rode in '08 it was noticeably rough (understatement) compared to when it was new. IMO I think Montu is the best, with Afterburn close behind.

I have to agree with some previous posts. I think Maverick and I-305 are both overhyped. Maverick primarily because of the restraints; I can't place my finger on I-305. There are some parts of it I really enjoyed, others were just bleh.

Millenium Force still is at the top of my list. I hit it early on my trek of coasters before I started experiencing many other coasters. We'll be making a trip back up to CP in a couple of years so I can experience it again. It will be interesting what I think of it after I've ridden another hundred coasters. Maybe you can catch a ride, Wormy.

As far as TTD and Kingda Ka, they are one-trick ponies. They are great the first time you ride them, more because of the anticipation of what it will be like. After a couple of rides on each, Lucy's Crabby Cabbie is almost more interesting.

It seems like most people think Maverick as overhyped, which I use to the first time I road it. However after my 2nd trip to Cedar Point, I learned how to lean into the turns and avoid slamming my neck into the restraints. Once you can ride it comfortably, it turns into one of my favorites.

I think Maverick gets the hype it deserves. It's got a good launch, speed, nice inversions, airtime. I don't have a problem with the OTSRs, but seriously, it has the things people rave about, so I don't get the overhyped statements.

And Magnum? Really? No airtime? Someone must live in a gravity well or something. If anything it has painful airtime (not in a bad way to me, but still).

I'm thankful, Jonathan. I rode Boulderdash after it's rehab, so I loved it. I rode Raging Bull it's first year, before I was enthusiast, so I loved it as I didn't know what to expect, and there was no time to Hype it for me.

I thought Millinnium Force was way over rated. I like it, but it's far from the end all, be all. I305 is almost over rated, but it does deliver. It could use more airtime, though. Or less trims.

Superman at Magic Mountain was way over rated to me. Sadly, even with a recent visit, I haven't gotten to ride it since it's improvements.
