We took a road trip to Texas over Spring Break to visit SFOT, SFFT, and SWSA. Here's the post I put together for anybody who is interested:

http://www.tarheelcamper.com/2013/04/a-lone-star-spring-break.html

Here's some additional notes that I didn't include in my blog post.

- Pandemonium is a pretty awesome little coaster. Gerstlauer did a better job with a spinning coaster than Zampelera
- Titan doesn't get enough kudos in the hyper coaster category
- While I like B&M Inverts, they are all starting to feel about the same to me.
- I'd like to see a few more hybrid coasters around the U.S.

-Nice to see a Waterville mention! The often forgotten CCI, I thought it was a nice little out and back.

-The reason all the B&M inverts felt the same is because you rode 3 Batman: The Ride clones!

-The Gerstlauer spinners are really fun, (although I wish they would shake up the layout a bit, of the 7 Gertie spinners I've been on 6 have the same layout) How these spinning rides haven't caught on more in the states is so confusing to me. Maurer Sohne also makes some excellent spinners, mostly in Europe.

-I agree with the SFoT paths being confusing, but you have to remember that some parts of the park are 50+ years old, and they just expanded around that. IMO it gives the park an element of charm.

-Did you look into Kemah Boardwalk at all? It's just outside of Houston. Boardwalk Bullet is currently my favorite coaster in Texas, but I haven't been on New Texas Giant or Iron Rattler yet of course.

Overall good (short!) write up and glad you and your family had fun. :D

-Yeah, the side trip to Waterville was well worth the extra time. My son didn't want to get out of the coaster so the ride operator let us go a second time for free. I love classic woodies like that.

-I knew the two Six Flags inverts were B:TR clones, I didn't realize that The Great White was. Digging into my memory, I do realize that there are a few unique ones that I've ridden.

-After I ride a few more Gerstlauer spinners, I'm sure I'm going to wish the layout were a bit different on more of them. I'm not sure how soon it's going to be until I can make it to Europe.

-Yeah, that thought did pop into my mind about SFOT. It was more frustrating since I was pushing a wheelchair. It's a great park, regardless.

-Kemah Boardwalk and Galveston PP were on my itinerary for the trip but we were unable to fit them into our schedule on the way out. Unfortunately they weren't open on our return trip. I am hoping they'll be open when we're driving through in Dec on our way to AZ/CA. I should be able to pick up Iron Rattler then, too.

-I kept is short so I could get it written in a timely manner. I still have to write about my trip to Kennywood last July :(

I'm excited to get back to Tejas Memorial Day Weekend. Planning on doing SFoT again (Love that park), Fiesta Texas, and Huston's parks with a Schlitterbahn thrown in. Nice report!
