Gulliver's Travels in 3D My rating: 2 out of 5 stars
Rated PG Runtime: 1 hr 25 min
Staring: Jack Black
Gulliver (Jack Black), has his personality laid out before him by a coworker early on in the film - he's too passive and needs to learn how to speak up for himself and increase his personal goals and vision. Little does he know he's about to literally set sail on an adventure that will teach him to honor his self worth and be more assertive. After his boat is drawn into swirling tornado waters, he washes ashore on an island where he towers over everyone but still follows their lead - doing what they instruct, until he learns to think for himself.
This, of sorts, is the male version of Alice in Wonderland. The special 3D effect capabilities were hardly used. It's basically a 2D film in 3D. This glorified T.V. movie can just as easily be enjoyed on television as opposed to the big screen. Use your hard earned movie money for something more deserving. The two children with me, ages 7, were only slightly amused. At the 10:45 Saturday morning showing on 1.1.2011, there were only 10 people in the audience.
