Forgot to post this over here for you guys.

I went up to Ghost Town on the 12th on the way over to Dollywood and got some great stuff around the park.

I'll post my story later (whenever I get around to writing it up).

That's really cool. I've never actually been to the park, but I've always wanted to go. The park looks great so far!

Thanks for the report.

Here are the 2007 prices and info on the park.

Image

If you call 500 of your friends looks like you can get in for $17.99. What happened to the coke can discounts. Also, you can buy the old chair lift seats for $200.00 a piece. Start your own park or ski resort. So practical! Finally, the building that used to house the indoor scrambler is now being converted to a mountainside resturant. The scrambler is still in there...they use it for the eggs. Sorry Jk, couldnt resist. Part about the resturaunt is true though.

I see there are getting new trains for Red De... eh, Cliffhanger. I guess that means it will finally get over the shoulder restraints? :(

I didn't even think about that. Hopefully they will just build replicas of the old ones.

What was the sliver bullet?

It was Ghost Town's failed attempt at an in house water coaster. I know someone that actually saw it testing back in the 80's. He said it was very fast, almost too fast. It was deemed unsafe by the park and they decided to scrap the ride, before it even opened to the public. Then came the Red Devil.

Speaking of the infamous Silver Bullet ... does anyone here remember seeing this ride? From what we can gather, it was built in the mid-80s, tested and found too extreme to open, and then sat dormant until being removed for the Red Devil's installation.

I intend to make this ride a topic of my monthly Scrapbook feature in Amusement Today if I can find definitive info and photos. It remained there for several seasons before being scrapped, so surely *someone* got pics of it.

We, myself and others including Ghost Town’s PR rep (David King) and Tommy (of tommyandjames.net) have been searching for details of this elusive contraption. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Don't ask him for info... He will just take the pictures off of this site (http://tommyandjames.net/gtits07.html), crop them, then upload them to PhotoBucket and claim them as his own.

OK ya'll keep your bellicosity to yourself! ;)

The Silver Bullet could very well turn out to be the park's official urban legend. The notorious Silver Bullet coaster that was too dangerous to even open to the public!!! Image

This is true. On the first test run, the train left the jumped the track and went flying!! They never touched the ride again after that except to patch up the area of the track the train tore through.

Yes, the fact that it say there for several years, someone surely has some photos. When I went in 1992, I could still see track remnants but never bothered to ask anyone about it.

Anybody in the Asheville area with an interest in this could easily research newspaper files, and microfilm in the library. I spent a number of days doing research on Lakewood Park in the Charlotte library. It can be exhausting yet rewarding at the same time.

Seawhippet, keep us informed on your findings!!
