Just stumbled upon this article today. Race for the Tallest Ferris Wheel

Seems if Ferris Wheels will beat out Coasters for the tallest. As much that they scare me I want to ride the 682 footer.

Well, seeing how Carowinds has had a number of family attractions taken out over the years, a large ferris wheel would be a welcome addition IMO.

Funny you should bring this up Foreseer. More than once I have been told from first time visitors that the park really needs a large ferris wheel. I know they aren't for everybody but they can add some real flair to a parks skyline, especially at night with the light show they provide.

As some of you know, back in 1998 Carowinds was slated to get the Sky Whirl from Great America. http://www.greatamericaparks.com/skywhirl.html

Although it is nothing like the large spectacular wheels shown by Foreseer, it was very unique in it's own right and I hate we didn't get it. I can't remember why it was Carowinds did not get the Sky Whirl but it eventually got scrapped I believe.
