The Charlotte Observer has an article about a place 50 miles south of Charlotte (off I-77) called Carolina Adventure World.

Although the park seems to center around "dirt" sports (ATV, dirt bikes, etc), They do have a video of what looks like a really nice zip line 1/2 mile long! The video of all 3 legs of the zip line is seen here:

They also have tent camping and RV parking.
Could be a nice alternative for those who enjoy this type of thing.
