Indeed they have. I cranked up the difficulty of the registration verification, so hopefully that will stop them.

You should change it back to how it was before you upgraded the forum (give the forum members who frequent the forum the most the ability to delete posts). That worked out real well. I was deleting, on average, a post per day.

I'd rather avoid that, because with the way I do it now I can delete/IP ban the spammer and all of their posts in one broad stroke. And I'm sure as hell not giving anyone access to the administration panel!

It's not near as bad as it was on the old forum (yet), but I'm at a bit of a loss on how to stop them. I have increased the registration word verification difficulty to near the max, so grainy and hidden that it is probably very difficult for a human to even register. It seems though that the bots are more intelligent.

Jon, if you don't have Account Activation set to by user, try that. If you have it set to that, you can try by Admin. You can also try username limits and passwords complexity, if you haven't already. Under Security Setting, have you seen this:
"Check IP against DNS Blackhole List:
If enabled the user’s IP address is checked against the following DNSBL services on registration and posting: spamcop.net, dsbl.org and http://www.spamhaus.org. This lookup may take a while, depending on the server’s configuration. If slowdowns are experienced or too many false positives reported it is recommended to disable this check"
My last suggestion is uping the minimum times for registration and accepting terms.

All of that is set except for Admin verification. I did that once before and forgot to check it for like 3 months, so no one who registered could post.
