Hey!

I am considering buying No Limits, and I just had some questions. As an avid RCT3 player, will it be hard to get used to?

Which do you guys think is better?

Is it easy to use?

Thanks.

Any other general information will be greatly appreciated.

I can't be much help on the building of coasters since I haven't taken that on yet, but I knew someone that picked up on it immediately with basically no experience. I just simply love riding other peoples coasters and have found some incredible works of art out there in No Limits land.

Things I like to do on No Limits. A simple keystroke will allow you to easily change seats while riding, change cars (it defaults to the front seat but you can do the back or any car). You can also do fly overs and view the coaster in operation at any birdseye angle you want. Sometimes I will view the train as if I were sticking my head up between the track rails and watch the car zoom over my head. You can also take screenshots like you can on RCT3.

With the upcoming NL2, there will be a walking mode which will allow you to walk around the coaster. Complete with walking sound effects. There is a sample video of this in action on the website. It is incredibly life-like. The landscape effects are pretty good now but supposedly going to be even better with the new version.

I have only seen RCT3 in action briefly and in my opinion, No Limits blows it away. I am sure some of you would beg to differ and that is fine. Just my opinion.

If I were you I would download the free DEMO from the NL website. Link is on the bottom right.

^ I agree completely. I have No Limits and RCT3. After you get used to building coasters with NL, you'll never want to build on RCT3 again. In my opinion, RCT3 is far too limited. You only get to include ride elements that are already programmed into the game, and the physics are way off (thus, why a "giga" coaster in RCT is only "150' tall.")

With NL, however, you build coasters and that is all. There's no theming, or objective. You just build. It also may take a while to get used to the CAD-like interface. My coasters still don't run right, and I've been toying with them for almost a year.

^While there may be no themeing to the effect of "disney-type", you can place your coaster in incredible landscapes, such as mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, etc. One of my favorite NL creations (I would send a screen shot if I could locate it in my massive collection) was a single car, mine/mouse type ride that was built in and around this giant rock mountain with steep, jagged cliffs. The author did an incredible job in that sense of themeing.

Like you pointed out, RCT has it's limits, but hence the name, there appear to be no limits with NO LIMITS.

I found No Limits to be very easy to build in. Just like any other program you got to learn where and how to use some of its features. True, there are no built in Disney effects but you can also import 3D objects, do awesome terrains, build skyboxes and have custom textures. No Limits is as hard or as easy as you want it to be.
I myself have about a dozen caosters built and, as we speak, I am in the process of tweaking them all. For some reason with the latest update my Gs are off a bit and I have one that crashes. Ooops!!
Give it a try and you'll love it.

thanks!

one more question: should I get the first one and get used to it, or should I just wait for it to come out? (btw, when does it come out???)

Has a release date been set for NL2? It could be months away. I say "why the heck wait?". The update to the new version may be free anyway. If not, shouldn't be much. Get on with it! Build us a coaster!!

If you know anything about autoCAD then no limits will be a no brainer... I have had the game since it release way back when. This game is without a doubt better than RCT3.... the possiblities are endless. Its really hard to get used to and takes hours and hours to do, but luckily there are sites where the GURU's post their tracks to download, so thats great. I still am not good at the game, I wish I was so I could do Intimidator, still may give it a whirl. You should definately get the game, NL2 will not be free.... go to nolimitscoaster.de to see info about the game...

I'm just sitting here redoing several of the coasters I made in No Limits and working on a few that I started but never finished. As I would like to swap tracks with others here does everyone have all the tools like Trackpacker? The reason I am asking is several of my tracks use 3DS models and textures but without a proper "packing" you wouldn't get the whole experience.
Let me know if you do and we can do some emailing so we don't turn this into a sim web site and cluter it up.

I'm thinking about buying No Limits. I'm also planning on buying my own laptop soon, and I'm wondering if this game can somehow be transferred to that laptop, as well as my desktop, or should I just wait and put it on my laptop originally? I'd like to have it on both if possible.
Also, does anybody have any updates on No Limits 2? Wasn't it supposed to be out by now?

You can put the game on as many PC's as you want, I have put it on so many times after re-formatting etc, because nothing is activated on the net or anything. The developers of NL 2 havent set a release date, they pushed it way back. Ole, the main developer, said it was to far in development to quit so I guess whenever it gets done is when its done. The updates are at nolimitscoaster.de if you want to check it out. They havent updated anything since Nov 5th. If anyone wants to trade tracks or anything, send me a message. I love to download coasters from others and would like to share some of my designs as well! :D
