Rated R- Sci-Fi Horror Mystery Thriller
**** (4 out of 5 stars)
~This film takes its time, like the black & white classics, to build characters, and has suffered some harsh criticism from those who like films to move along a bit faster.~

It may have started out looking like a remake of Species – the 1995 sci-fi hit – but when this lab experiment is kept totally under raps from the rest of the building, this story turns into a completely different lab rat.

Husband and wife, genetic engineer team (Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley), develop new male and female life forms by genetically splicing together DNA from different animals. They become the talk among their scientific community. But when unexpected developments arise with disastrous results, the team, regretfully, is reassigned to develop the ultimate bodily protein instead. Not willing to scrap their original research, they secretly begin again, introducing new DNA resulting in a different bred of specie. Many notes are taken as this private study progresses, but neither of them expects the ride they’re in for after taking this hybred home as it matures, and learns and longs for the outside world.

Lab note:
You can suppress a baby elephant (many animals) and make it believe you are more powerful and in total in control of it, but once it becomes aware of its own strengths and special skills, there could be hell to pay.
