We're leaving Greensboro tomorrow for my final trip to Carowinds for the season. We're stopping at Concord Mills before heading to the mall in Charlotte. We're then going to get a hotel (any cheap recommendations) and head out to the club. We then plan to wake up and enjoy Carowinds.

I've only done the whole night scene a few times in Charlotte, but never on a Wednesday. Where are the best places to go for a mainly college crowd (I'm guessing near UNCC or downtown???)? I'm hoping for a lot of people, a good girl to guy ratio and preferably mostly hip-hop and R&B music, with a little bit of pop.

My favorite club uptown is Whiskey River, its bigger than the others and its just fun. Bar Charlotte is just to cramped, at least on the weekends. I dont think I have been to buckhead, but I think that is more of a "country" music bar...so I avoid it  Suite I have never been to but its more fancy and you have to dress up... The only other places I have been is to the strike city in the epicenter, which bowling is pretty expensive, but the place is very nice with a bar and they are connected to the pizza place which is really good... and alley cat is OK, last time I was there the place wasnt all that crowded, they have a "house" band that plays cover songs mainly rock I believe, I havent been there for a long time though... If you are looking to just drink and not worry about a cover then a sports bar like Picassos. I used to work uptown on tryon street so I know where most of these places are.. Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm staying here at the Crowne Plaza on 4th St and McDowell St, only seven tenths of a mile from Epicenter, Whiskey River, etc.

We're just going to get walking and see what happens.

On a side note, anyone going to Carowinds tomorrow? How have the crowds been this week with the "Bring a Friend for $19.99" season pass special going on?
