What's up everyone? It's the end of the year and I've been to a few parks this past summer and some coaster that were hyped, I rode and my thoughts were ehhhhh!!! I.E. MAVERICK (due to restraints), BIZZARO - 6flags Maryland (some effects fallen away), and I-305 just ugh not really pleased the design was BLAH, great first drop tho). What's your opinion on what coasters are overrated?

I assume you mean I-305. In a way I am not surprised some people would find that over hyped. As for Maverick I thought it was overhyped the first few times I road it due to the restraints, but the more I road it the more I loved it, currently in my top 5. Dragster is one of my alltime favorites because I just love the acceleration. However the most overhyped coaster I have ridden is Diamondback at Kings Island. The airtime is not as good as it could be on that one.

Thank you for catching that misspell; I've corrected it. I totally agree Diamondback is definitely overhyped. I think Intimidator at Carowinds threw him out back in the desert with airtime. Much better! Now if they could just take them trim brakes off I'd be a happy camper :)

In my opinion, I305 wasn't overhyped at all. It currently sits on my number one spot. it's all around unique, unlike anything else out there really. Incredible, not overhyped.

^^Oh yes it would be so much better if the trims were cut down a lot it would be loaded with airtime. Oh well, I am happy with one of my all-time favorites, Intimidator having a ton of airtime.

Another coaster that is over-hyped is Magnum XL-200. I understand there is a lot of history involved with it, but it is not a top ten coaster in my opinion.

Personally Millennium Force is my favorite coaster. There is something about it that I just love. I think I would really like Magnum if the restraints were different. Lots of airtime with just a bar as a restraint has made it painful to ride.

Yeah, like me? That damn speeding ticket.

I've never been to Cedar Point. Always used to wanna go, but I've yet to hear anything that was enough to impress me to strip my shorts and get up there. Speed coasters - who on here has ridden Formula Rossa, that wanted sand in their eyes?

I-305 was always overhyped. Lovely first drop, and then pffft. Ever read the KD fan site? I used to, until I couldn't take Novak's Alvey wannabe legions any longer.

I-232 is the best investment Carowinds ever made. Maybe they should pay their ever-revolving PR reps a smidge more? (Scott, Dani, Bryn, where did you go?) When they said that our park was going to be the next Cedar Point of the south, Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular, Windsucker, and Dinosaurs Alive was not what I had in mind.

Now Phoenix on the other hand.. Bigger and badder is NOT better.

Well technically, cedar point has had all those so...it can be considered the cedar point of the south lol.

For me, I305 was a little overhyped/rated. I dont like the fact that im tensed the entire ride trying to brace myself instead of enjoying myself.

That is a long term goal. You can't expect a park to get to this over a course of the last 3 years. Now if ten years from now, Carowinds doesn't have high caliber coasters added with Intimidator and Afterburn, then they are not going to achieve a status of "Cedar Point of the South". I would imagine the next coaster is coming in 2014, where it needs to be a coaster that is worth traveling to.

If it was obvious, then why criticize it make it sound like you expect it to have that status reached by now?

Huh? Restate please.

Yes, Caro will get a new coaster soon, and we'll be all over it, like we have in the past. Shush.
