Yesturday I took a trip to KD after a few years of hiatus. First thing that I definately noticed was the huge amount of landscaping and when I say landscaping I mean, pure shade. Awesome for the 11am heat the was getting warmer . So we went counter clockwise to start our ride adventure. First ride up was Grizzly. I think its stupid that you have to walk thru the Dino store to get to the attraction. Ok so it was a nice woodie, not toooo rough; it did throw you side to side like a good woodie should and run thru the trees giving a sense of no direction. Then up next was windseeker. I the experience on this ride is totally different from carowinds. The key to a great experience is location. Carowinds wins for best experieince!! The seeker is in the back between Hurler and Grizzly. If your looking for a good view of the forest, this ride is for you. Next we hopped on hurler. KD definately gets the award for this. It's the same exact replica of Carowinds but not over the top with the roughness. It almost felt like a new coaster. (maybe they retracked it). Following Hurler, Richochet was next it was cute lol and then Rebel Yell. Rebel Yell also is an exact replica of Thunder Road. Of course being a slow day one side was running. The coaster ran very smoothly to me, as if it went thru the same refurb as thunder road undergone. That whole ride was not bumpy or didnt leave you with a headache. Next was Drop Zone. OK, I love the height (305ft/272ft drop) on the ride wonderful; however the drop was nice, but it felt controlled. The airtime was lovely. From there we strolled across the midway to Triple Spin, a nice flat I think carowinds could use, not an exact replica of it but something similar. What am I saying Carowinds can use any flat at this point, Chaos would be a great addition as well. Then we took a spin on Shockwave. It's clear that this is the oldest standup coaster operating today. The restraint system were awkward looking I must say. It kind of hurt my rib cage a little. The ride is a compact stand up coaster, its rather rough of course but the overbanked turns was my high point then the bunny hops or waves at the end. I actuctually experienced airtime which I never get on Vortex at carowinds. After that took a little break and then headed over to the congo area. I must say the that themed areas are nice and everythng in the areas actually go with the theme except intimidator, thats just totally out of place. So the Crypt and Intimidator were closed of course not suprised. Went on to Volcano which is one of my favorite rides. My best friend never been on it so I destracted her while we were entering the launch pad and boy did she scream for dear life. That ride is a win. Next was Avalanche. You dont see this style coaster anymore, at least in the U.S. It's a bobsled coaster not big but it is thrilling onve you start flying thru the turns. After that we went on to Flight of fear. This is a ride Carowinds could use. Nothing like riding a coaster in the dark lol. The themeing can use a little updating but the overall experience is great; especially the launch; rose it 3x. Up next was Anaconda. The ride gave me a nightmarish reminder of cyclone. From the restraints to the roughness of the ride. Backlot Stunt Coaster was next. The theming to it was cool and the launch we great. KD have a great number of launch coasters that i feel carowinds is definately lacking. Hopefully we will see one soon. Lastly we on on Dominator. I good floorless coaster. This coaster was smooth and fast and the inversion were awsome, rode it 6x. After that we hoped on Beserker (replica of southern star), Wave Swinger which I miss at Carowinds and the ferris wheel. I can see these rides in the country fair area. Lastly went went to all the food stalls and got fat lol. That my trip we got there about 12pm and did everything in about 5.5hrs. Im planning to go back for their halloween haunt. Some mazes were already up and they look amazing and scary. I cant wait!!!!!!!
