Lots of misinformation in this sentence. It didn't stall - it derailed, as in, come a off the tracks. And it didn't hit a tree branch - it hit an entire tree that fell over onto the track.

They aren't nearly the liability that birds are to riders and you don't see parks putting coasters in bird proof bubbles.

No but they are much easier to control. Again, I'm not against trees. I'm willing to take my risk with them and I say leave every one of them and plant more. I love coasters that go through trees. I'm just pointing out what management and management's lawyers are thinking when they remove them.

Oh well that's exactly what was said on the the news to the GP forgive me for doing deeper research. I just posted what I heard at that time.

No need for apologies as I'm sure you were quoting from the newscast. I stated what I said so the truth would be out there to be told. As a community of enthusiasts, I think it's our responsibility to make sure the information about roller coasters is accurate, whether it be about an accident or not. I was informing you of the truth so you could inform others and correct their mis-information.

Before this thing dies out, the media will have mis-reported it so badly that it'll end up being three people who died when a purple stand-up wooden coaster at Legoland California jumped the tracks and plowed into the crowd.

I've serious doubts about this "liability" everyone keeps bringing up. If there was a "mandatory" buffer zone wouldn't it have been enforced sooner? Unfortunately recent photos of Ninja clearly show that a set clearance has been applied to pretty much the entire circuit. Could've been voluntary since the tracks of Revolution & Gold Rusher are still surrounded by thick foliage. Of course it's probably only a matter of time until they receive the same deforestation treatment what with the draconian CalOSHA always changing the rules. Remember what happened to the Alice in Wonderland attraction over in Disneyland? There was "voluntary" scaffolding added for employee safety underneath the exterior track section even though it'd been that way for decades. Four years it stayed that way until it was finally renovated. Reminded me of all those hundreds of buildings in New York City leaving all that "temporary" scaffolding up for decades. :roll:
