I definitely consider myself an enthusiast. But I don't think I'm an extreme enthusiast. I plan vacations to ride coasters, I read blogs and discussion boards about coasters, and sometimes I dream about coasters.

I'm sure there are some people out there that have are more extreme than I am.

So, what does your being an enthusiast look like? Do you have a room in your house that is a shrine to all the parks you've been to (or to your favorite park)? Do you have a collection of tshirts or shot glasses commemorating every coaster you've been on? Do you use every single vacation day for coaster-related events?

Im low key myself. While every trip I plan involves roller coasters, I dont live, eat, sleep coasters. When I get with my coaster friends we actually know who each other is outside of coasters. I dont study coasters, cant tell you the top fastest or longest but I am quite familiar with parks and what they have.

I definitely travel to go to parks (I'm writing this on a bus from downtown Pittsburgh to Kennywood), but my ideal trip would involve a mixture of things. An ideal trip for me would involve exploring a city, going to an amusement park, and seeing a hockey or soccer game. I've pulled off this combination a few times (Minneapolis, Valleyfair, Wild game; Pittsburgh, Waldameer, Kennywood, Canes/Pens game; and London, Thorpe, Alton, Arsenal game). I did an 18 day European trip and spent four and a half of those days at parks (Parc Asterix, Europa, Tibidabo, Port Aventura, Disneyland Paris). So I'm definitely really into this stuff and will travel to do it, but it's one of several main interests/hobbies I have. I couldn't imagine traveling somewhere far away and not experiencing any of the local culture or places.

I used to buy t shirts at parks but unfortunately most park and coaster shirts are tacky as hell and not something I want to wear in public. I've started buying magnets to put on my fridge instead.

I dont let anyone know. I once saw a gentleman at cedar point with100's of patches of coaster logos sewn onto his stonewashed jean jacket.

The best at Cedar Point is Single Rider Bob, who I always there and wearing a brightly colored shirt with that printed on it.

I guess I am a moderate enthusiast although I have calmed down in the last year or so. My garage is my man cave that is decked out with coaster and amusement park stuff. You could call it my shrine.

I don't study coasters, their stats, etc. The extent of my research is to find parks near where are traveling. Like others, I do things other than coasters and amusement parks.

However, my brother and I are very competitive. I just found out he's been pushing hard to pass me and just did 2 week ago as he hit 254. I am now on a quest to beat him to 300, much to my wife's dismay.

I can tell you how many coasters I've been on, but I could never even guess how many times I've ridden any of them.

Like most of you, we're sure to do other activities when we travel to other parks. I saw a trip report somewhere of someone that went to like 6 different parks in 4 different states on a 7 day trip. All they did was drive and go to parks (and hopefully sleep). And they only rode the coasters at the parks. To me, that wouldn't be a very enjoyable trip. I like to explore whole parks (including flats!) and see the sites in different locations. Oh...and I like to experience nature, too! I love my coasters, but I try to balance them with other activities.

I would consider myself a more than average enthusiast. I will plan any trip I can around a park, although I'm not unwilling to go to non-park things along the way.
