General Carowinds discussion

The same reason Thunder Road didn’t survive the Carolina Harbor expansion, Return On Investment.

I will believe Flyers is returning when a permit in either state shows up or Carowinds releases a photo of the ride being reassembled.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

First it was 2018 then 2019 from park officials. I personally asked Steve when rumors went around about Summer 2018. He could neither confirm nor deny the rumor.

Why did Carousel get moved so quickly but Flyers didn’t?

Flyers is a low capacity ride, Carousel is high capacity. More people appear to ride Flyers but I am willing to bet Carousel is more popular.

Funny thing is I said from the day Carowinds announced Camp Snoopy and removal of Flyers that I wouldn’t return even when the park said it would. So far I have been correct; prove me wrong Carowinds, prove me wrong.

Because they didn't have to build a roller coaster next to it first?

Thunder Road didn't survive because they put a ton of money into rebuilding sections of it that failed to smooth it out and it was blocking prime expansion real estate. Plus, let's be honest, it wasn't a particularly popular ride towards the end of its existence.

Like I said Return On Investment.

I guess we will see what happens next year on the flyers, they are still in the disability guide for 2018 and is says "coming soon", of course I know this guide hasn't been edited this year, they could always not bring them back for a while. I didn't really pay attention under fury, but I think a month or so ago, the arms etc were still under fury and during the JDRF walk they were definitely there. I can scope it out next time I am there, and check some pictures as I do have some of the things they are building for scarowinds... I wouldnt be surprised if they have started re-themeing etc. the ride. Just wondering where they will put them..

From what I was told, the Fliers were supposed to go generally where mini Golf was or somewhere behind the ladder game. But that was many months ago. And we all know that some plans change fairly quickly; like how the new County Fair was supposed to go where the old one was (I learned that over a year ago from an official).

Also, just have fun with all the teasers. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day

Welcome back FamousAmos! Yea that area behind ladder game is footers now, they get pretty close to the construction walls and everything, its hard to see though...

They may still fit somewhere in the area though, its hard to see the true amount of space really.... so it may could still go in that rea somewhere :D

theres a construction permit on file for relocation of the flyers. they're just moving and apparently moving to someplace that prevents them from opening yet. Safe bet they'll be inside the construction zone somewhere when they open, and that means likely 2019, unless they can finish the pad where they go this fall and provide access to them while they finish the coaster.

The more we get into this the more I'm starting to think the old county fair area will not be getting a makeover.

If the teaser was saying that the ride entrance would be that spot what is the point of making over that huge area this off season.

I know it needs it but if the new coaster won't even draw people to that area I believe they'll hold off on that till another year.

Why not hold off till you can add some attractions like a flat ride or two and redo the southgate then. I'm just saying it's clearly not needed.

We'll have to wait and see just where the actual entrance will be.

Last permit I seen for Flyers wasn’t approved by York County and was from last year.

I doubt it because the flyers are listed on the disability guide and pirments were filed for relocation.I think they will open in 2019

Yea I think the old county fair won’t get a makeup yet, maybe carowinds wants to do what they did with fury and the north gate, retheme, Re do the South Gate and add a new coaster and some new flats , the coaster can prob start from where dinos are at and interact with the South Gate
