Plus there's no way something that big would fit on the site.
It does take about 2.5 seconds to drop 500 ft straight down... ;)

I know it isn't realistic, but something like the Fury wasn't realistic not too long ago, too.

Yeah but that isn't realistic at all. As stated earlier by cwgator, they would have had to file a permit with the FAA as the park is relatively close to Charlotte Douglas, and they're not allowed to build above 340 feet.

They're were several coasters like Fury before Fury came to the park. Fury was very realistic . . . since 2000.

I hope everyone is really being tongue in cheek about this 500 foot tall thing.

(Incidentally, if you fall for 2.5 seconds, you're only going to have fallen about 100 feet. It would take more than 5 seconds to fall 500 feet.)

Where did 2.5 come from? Is there a dot on the recipe? looks like 25 seconds.

If there is a dot, it would look to me like you have a roll out of the station, full stop on the launch. Then a 2.5 second launch up to 42 mph. Who knows about the "stir".
I haven't come up with a good idea for 530 yet either.

Of course all of that could be wrong.

I have a question.I have only ridden 1 Mack coaster and it was a wild mouse.Do Mack coasters get vibrations?

The 2.5 seconds comes from Carowind's reply to a comment in one of their instagram posts

stirring to me definitely implies something going around in a circle...whether that's the hearline roll out of the station AND/OR spinning AND/OR something else we haven't thought of....not sure.

I think of the heartline roll out of the station as more of a "twist" or corkscrew motion than a "stir" motion.

Has anyone been able to match the track supports that have been photographed on site with anything in the Mack factory video where the foreign guy said the track was headed to "California" and we think maybe he meant "Carolina" ? Is there any footage of something we can match colors yet? or say it's not a match?

^ I've also been eyeing that dead-end walkway by Surfer's Swell in Carolina Harbor. I've been thinking it looks like they're planning on creating a path to the old County Fair area, either under the new coaster or adjacent to it. Should make for a nice midway, if that's the plan of course.

That being said, I'd imagine they would want to keep the red path even if they end up adding the black one.

As for a Zamperla Discovery to go along with the new coaster, I'd love it.

My honest input and I could be wrong. I'm thinking the 530 is the first launch's length. I remember riding white lightning as a kid and everyone bragged about how many seconds it traveled the 400 plus foot launch in x amount of seconds. Please note I don't remember the full stats on white lightning ( speed, launch length , and seconds it took to travel the launch section)

Yes, tongue in cheek, but based on the idea that every ride was once thought to be unrealistic until it was real. Its at least theoretically possible, it's not like suggesting the 2.5 seconds as the turnover time between rides. Maybe track length of the initial drop would be more realistic, if it corkscrews or something.

And Google says you fall 1,000 ft in about 5.5 seconds, so given some liberties with what's considered height verses the fall, 2.5 seconds would "fit".

Has it been specified as 530 "feet", or is the number making people assume distance? Given prior hints involving old cars, could 530 be referring to some sort of horsepower detail tied into the theme?

Edit - why don't my quotes display properly? Nevermind, figured it out.

uscbandfan wrote:White Lightnin was 57 mph and 137 feet tall. I don't remember the launch duration or length but watching the youtube video, it looks to be about 4 seconds.

It was that tall to reverse the momentum. The loop, itself, was like 70-80 ft.
