General Carowinds discussion

I agree that its likely not 53.0. I at first thought maybe it could be 53mph but I dont think that is the case. I also think it has something to do with a length of some kind, maybe launch length or tunnel etc. I think the "ingredients" have to do with the specs of the ride like length etc and the actual "directions" are giving some of the elements etc. of the ride. The 2.5 was clarified as 2.5 by carowinds so this is 2.5 seconds and I still believe it will be 42mph in 2.5 seconds in the first launch. Cant wait for more teasers and we are only 18 days away from knowing what it is :D

I go on vacation for a week and 10 new pages! I personally think it's 530 for the total launch track length. Knowing this will be the BIGGEST announcement for Carowinds history, I think the hotel won't be included in the announcement as they already announced it earlier this year. I think it'll be the new Mack coaster, flyers, new path to connect Crossroads, County Fair, and Carolina Harbor and then obviously for parking spaces. I think there will be a huge surprise we don't know anything about included as well, but I can't guess what it is (because we know nothing about it).

I feel like the biggest announcement relates to investment, not necessarily items. We already know about the coaster and flyers. I think we see a nice new midway with the announcement. I also think this coaster is going to be heavily themed. Not to the level of Disney of course, but heavily themed for a CF park. We’ve seen them get better at theming with the coaster additions this year, as well as Mystic Timbers last year. The coaster is already going to be expensive as it is, and if it’s as themed as I think it will be, that all adds on to the investment.

I’m having flashbacks to small me on my first ever behind the scenes tour in 2008 and being so excited because the staff person said Carowinds was making the biggest announcement in the park’s history the following year (which ended up being Intimidator).

I’m excited again this time! I would be pleasantly surprised if the announcement includes something I don’t alreay know about, but not necessarily expecting more than the coaster + (hopefully) flyers + (maybe) some TLC to the relevant sections of the park

Perhaps a turntable will be used?

Strongly agree. Carowinds big announcement will this coaster and basically bragging that the park continues to grow and gain momentum. While of course implying they aren’t done with the park and the future will always hold surprises.

I don’t expect anything specific in terms of new announcements. Aside from project Alpha.

I think the 530 is in reference to the top speed of the coaster (53 mph), while the initial launch will be 42 mph. The ingredient part of the recipe is the general/main stats like track length, number of launches...and top speed. Why would they put the length of the launch track, who cares? Also 530 is obviously not the capacity if you know how capacity works or can add.

53 mph top speed isn’t surprising to me at all when considering the tight footprint the coaster will have. It’s also similar in top speed to other Mack LSMs of this scale such as Time Traveler or Icon.

As long as we get a top spin themed to a corn cob next to this new coaster, I'll be satisfied. :sarcasm:

Seriously though, lots of other, relatively minor things could be coming in addition to Project Alpha. And these Macks are pretty costly, so 2019 could easily be the most expensive year to date for the park.

I think 42 mph is to slow.I think the first launch will be 53mphand the second 60mph

Mr. Freeze launch is about 190 ft long and goes 70mph. Imagine what a 530ft launch can do . . . on a coaster other than what's coming to carowinds.

Oh God I hope not a place like that place!

I think Soaring with Dragon is technically the fastest multi-launch, but I don't think our coaster is going to be breaking any records. However, with the clue "Completely stir the mixture around the pot and remove from heat", I think it's likely the train comes to a full stop into a show element before the second launch. I think this coaster will be Carowinds' Mystic Timbers, in that while it's not statistically significant, it is decently-themed and immersive to an extent.
