General Carowinds discussion

Also, I was at the park all morning, and I asked every employee I could find about the construction area. I got pretty much the same response, but on one occasion I was told that the announcement was so big because they are laying out plans for several new rides.

I hope this is true but the employees don’t always have inside information so it could be fake

I asked an employee in the parking lot what they were adding, just for fun, he said he thinks it’ll be water slides since it is in the water park.

I can’t see any part of the leaked blueprint being 176 feet with the amount space we are looking at. Seeing the footers in person on what will likely be the pullout of the top hat doesn’t appear to be enough space for that tall of an element. For comparison, Blue Fire’s I believe is 124 feet.

I wonder if this could possibly be a new themed area with "Project Alpha" being the main attraction and then the flyers along with maybe one other flat and a restaurant of some sort. If so it would be the first "new" themed area in a long time as County Fair and Carousel Park were renovations of old themed areas and not a completely new section of the park. Would that technically count as the "biggest" announcement in the park's history?

That's a pretty good idea and speculation for the announcement. That would most likely reach the mark for biggest announcement (money wise) in park history. The question with that is, what would the other flat be and what would the name of the area be called?

Byrd Farms perhaps? No idea what other flat we would possibly get, probably just the flyers next year. I dont know if there were other flats purchased with county fair and just not built or not? I know Camp Snoopy still has more rides, this came from Steve Jackson a few months ago during a slideshow presentation that was given...

This makes the most sense. And, as I've said before, that area is literally a crossroads in the middle of the park. Calling it anything else would be a huge missed opportunity IMO.

It would be disappointing if it's called Byrd Farm. That's random and not Carolinian in any way. I think that fictional location might factor into the theming of the new coaster though, much like the apple farm or whatever that Twisted Timbers is loosely themed around.

couple ideas

530: the date the ride will open. May 30, 2019? I think another park has done a teaser using 4 numbers for an opening date before, one they coded weird like 530, like the "official" grand opening for it, although soft opening as they're ready in the spring. I just think whatever clue they give, it has to mean something SIMPLE and recognizable once they do the big announcement. Not something that requires lots of math calculations. Yes, May 30th is a random Thursday well after opening date of the park, but look at it from their perspective: they are looking for obvious things to put in the teasers, things that you don't have to be an insider to see get the connection once they reveal the details.

"Byrd Farm" could have something to do with "Flyers" being that birds fly. Just a thought.

Yea Carowinds openeds in march, so I doubt that 530 is a date. I think its has something to do with some "non-important" aspect of the ride they normally give like maybe 530 tons of concrete or something l

So I've just been lurking in this thread for a while and not posting anything, but after seeing all of the discussion over what "530" is referencing, I thought I'd just put this here. Look at the first sentence in the second column. [Credit: Carowinds Early Years]

I from the get-go assumed it meant 53.0 mph, because that was the advertised speed of White Lightnin'.

With all of the White Lightnin' references we've seen so far, I think this might just be another connection.
