Industry Announcements: Paramount Parks introduce Gamefest Tour

Posted at 1:55 PM EST (1855 GMT)

Feb. 1st, 2005 -- (New York, NY) – January 31, 2005 – Paramount Parks, one of the world's leading developers and operators of theme parks and location-based entertainment, and Games Media Properties, a leading creator of video game entertainment and media, today announced a partnership to bring intense video game action and competition to five Paramount Parks nationwide this summer. Free with park admission to all 12 million people that attend Paramount Parks each summer, The Gamefest Tour allows park attendees to compete on the hottest new and yet-to-be-released video games in a high intensity, stimulating multimedia environment with prizes and free giveaways.

Beginning May 26 at Paramount's Great America Park in California, the Gamefest Tour will sit three weeks at each park, resulting in 99 total events throughout the summer. The complete Gamefest schedule is as follows:

May 26-June 12: Paramount's Great America (Santa Clara, California)

June 17-July 5: Paramount's Kings Island (King's Island, OH)

July 8-July 25: Paramount's Canada's Wonderland (Vaughan, Ontario)

July 29-August 15: Paramount's Carowinds (Charlotte, NC)

August 18-September 8: Paramount's Kings Dominion (Doswell, VA)

"Paramount Parks is always on the lookout for new and different attractions to bring to our parks each summer for our patrons to enjoy," said Brett Petit, XX Paramount Parks. "Video games have exploded in popularity and having the opportunity to work with Games Media to bring the best released and yet-to-be released games to our park is certainly something that we think will be of great appeal to our customers."

Games Media Properties has operated the GameRiot tour for the last two years, traveling to cities across the country at festivals and fairs. "Games Media has been looking to extend its mission of bringing what's new in video games and technology to the mass gaming audience across America," said Matthew Ringel, President and CEO of Games Media Properties. "Every week in summer, Paramount Parks across the continent are filled with audiences looking for fun and excitement. Video games enable highly social experiences and incredibly thrilling live competitions. Gamefest is an opportunity to showcase the best and newest titles the industry has to offer – at no extra charge. Paramount Parks has been a wonderfully enthusiastic partner as they firmly believe in the added-value that something like Gamefest offers to their patrons."

Gamefest will be supported through a major marketing program that will include In-Park, radio and online advertising:

In-Park Program
The In-park program will consist of QTV Ride Line Television support that will advertise the Gamefest attraction while guests are waiting. Additionally, each park will develop A Frame posters that will be displayed 30 days prior to and during the events. Parking Toll Fliers containing the event information and artwork will be distributed to each car as they enter the parking toll plazas on event days.

Radio Program
Each Paramount Park will drive awareness for Gamefest through a major radio buy surrounding the events targeting young adults 16-24 years old. The ads will run on-air in multiple markets beginning 10 days prior to the events and continuing throughout the events. Additionally, participating radio stations will run sweepstakes, contest, ticket giveaways, radio remotes, and DJ chatter to build awareness. These promotions will also begin two weeks prior to the events and continue throughout the events.

Online Program
Paramount Parks websites will include promotional information on Gamefest the entire season. The Parks E Newsletter, which reaches a subscriber base of just under one million, will feature editorial, insertions, and banner ads with hyperlinks to Gamefest landing pages.

^I think it might be both.

Sounds fun! although I'm gonna try to bribe my dad to take us to Kings Dominon this year instead of Carowinds, the flyers sound cool and all, but I'd rather ride 12 coasters I haven't ridden yet plus alot of flat rides that I haven't ridden other than only riding one new ride....

Have fun if anybody on here gets to go!
