General Carowinds discussion

From my understanding, the clothoid style loops were designed to reduce the forces entering and exiting the loop. it seems Mack has come up with some precise calculations to perfect a more circular loop (that isn't a corkscrew) and keep safe forces on riders. I went looked at their latest coasters with a vertical loop and this seems to be the first like this.

Uhh, what he said :

airtime loops = hangtime loops

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that this was the case?

Looks like they're almost done with the second half of the ride. All that's left is the trick track going out towards the corkscrew. After that, they only half to finish the corkscrew, second launch, tophat, and second loop.

Tough to get a pic but here’s some of the shed going up:

Edit: here’s a animation/actual comparison so far

It's so dang hard to see but it looks like they might be making progress on the second vertical loop today. The holiday and the rain have really slowed things down but it's supposed to be nice all this week so hopefully we will see a lot of new track go up.

The worst part is that the park’s social media has pretty much been radio-silent in terms of construction updates since Winterfest started. Maybe I’m just being a selfish nerd, but I miss the more frequent construction updates.

Carowinds is way more active on Twitter and Instagram than most regional parks. It makes more sense for them to focus on showcasing Winterfest right now instead of informing us of every new piece of track added. They’re open on weekends right now and it’s more fun seeing it in person anyway. We didn’t get to do this with Intimidator or Fury.

That blurry camera is a very bad look for the park. It suggests the park is not paying close attention to it's public image. Those cams are linked to their homepage, which represents a first impression to visitors. As a matter of fact, people are encouraged to view the cams as an enticement to buy a ticket. As it stands those cams are sending the message that the park is cheap, lazy, or just don't care about the product it is sending out to the world. I hate to say it but, this is one of those situations where no camera is better than this camera. A Youtuber from another country recently mentioned that he could not do updates on the construction because the park has a dirty, crappy camera. I'm shocked at how bad the image is compared to what it was with Fury/County Fair. The easy fix, (I think), would be to pan the Camp Snoppy camera around and aim it at the construction. I'm assuming both are on the SkyTower.
The fact we are talking negatively about this on social media suggests this is something they should consider addressing.

Y’all just need to deal with the camera. When most of y’all get on it is in the afternoon when the sun is beating on the angle it is set up in. Look at the camp snoopy cam, not nearly as bad because the sun doesn’t glare in the angle it is. I’ll admit the webcam is dirty and Carowinds could improve it but when you look at the cam in the morning it is a bit dirty but you can actually see what is going on. Keep in mind both webcams were bought in the same year.
