I was talking to this new kid at my school that just moved this year from San Fransico. We got on the subject of roller coasters. He said that PGA has the best coaster ever and is better than any coaster at carowinds...he also said that it was too bad that they were gonna tear it down. When I asked him what it was, he replied "Stealth." I quickly made him a little less ignorant.

Anyways...after he found out that "the best coaster ever" had followed him across the country, I asked him how stealth operated when it was in california. He said that it ALWAYS operated 1 train and broke down for a couple of hours every single day. He was even on it once when it broke down.

He had known that they were going to put in a waterpark and thought that this was the worst buisness decision ever. He said that there are plenty of waterparks in NorCal (contrary to what Paramount Claimed) and the park should have added another coaster instead.

He also thought that TG at PGA was really fun. I need to drag him on our TG sometime ths year...

WOW...thanks for letting us know that because I was always thinking that Stealth was sooo reliable they just had to send it to carowinds!! And here i am thinking the people of PGA were missing that reliable coaster!

I had heard similar remarks about Stealth at it's former home.

I'm glad that Carowinds found ways to get the bugs out of it.

I didn't believe the people on other boards that were saying 2 or 3 months before the annoncement that Stealth was leaving to be replaced by a water park!

Oh well, I love Borg. It's a lot of fun, and IMO is the best flyer out right now.

If B&M would make a custom though, that could easily be surpassed.

I like BORG as Vekoma Flyer but that may just be because I haven't rode a B&M Flyer.

Carowinds really impressed me with how they've fixed up BORG. The reports about the ride when it was at PGA were not encouraging, nor were those coming from it's brothers Batwing and X-Flight. Both of those seem lucky to ever run two trains, even though both rides have three trains. It seems that the third trains on both of those are used for spare parts to keep the others running - not with much success, apparently.

On my one and only trip to SFA, Batwing didn't even start testing until about 2pm, and started up with one-train operation about 4pm. Luckily I had Fastpass tickets so was able to skip the hour-plus line and get in two rides I like BORG better, as the setting is MUCH nicer and I felt the corkscrews were much more interesting than the inline-twists on Batwing. I did like the helix on Batwing, too bad we don't have that on BORG. Other than that the rides seemed pretty much the same, with BORG maybe being slightly smoother. Oh yeah, BORG's brakerun is covered - Batwing's is out in the sun and you start to bake a bit at the end of the ride.

Even the B&M flyers seem problematic. SFoG's Superman is a nice ride, noticeably smoother than the Vekomas, and the Pretzel Loop is VERY powerful. On my visits to the park though I've seen Supe broke down quite often, and rarely running all three trains. Plus, the layout really is blah after the pretzel, so I don't like the overall ride quite as much as BORG.

Now, give me B&M trains with the Vekoma layout, with better reliability than either, and I'd be in heaven. When the original rumor last year was for a custom B&M flyer with tunnels, etc. - I thought Carowinds would have an incredible ride. If someone else does build something along those lines, it should be something to see. Still, I like what we did get a lot more than I thought I would, and I'm glad we got it. Of course I like Vortex, so maybe I'm odd

I liked borg better than Superman at SFGA. I haven't ridden x-flight or batwing YET ( )!!!

They almost seem to spoil the feeling of flight on Superman. You first experience it in the station (hanging from the trains), so its kinda normal when you do the first drop. If you've never ridden a flyer before, its very scary to be suddenly exposed to "flight" 115 feet in the air. That gives a much better ride experience.

I've been on Batwing and except for the helix, Borg is superior in every way.

Borg is over the pond (AKA the River Smurf).

Batwing is built over a...drumroll please...abandoned looking field. Wow. Exciting.

It looks like they were caught off guard and said, where should we put this coaster???

Oh heck, stick it in the back of the park so we don't have to look at it.

June of 03 when I went it was only running 1 train until 2:00, then it broke down. I'm glad I waited in line and didn't pass on it. lol

That day was in the middle of the week and the coasters were all 10 minutes or less wait.

I never went one any flyers except borg And I think it is pretty neat. But I hope to go to SFOG to get on superman
